I decided on New Years eve that I wanted a change. After succesful and failed diets, I decided to have the lap band surgery. I attended the seminar with my sister, I decided that I wanted to go ahead. So I made my first appointment and was instantly comfortable with DR Giovanni. I went thru all the testing, some were ok, others I didnt like. The pysch evaluation didnt go to well because I think I was too honest. The dr felt I had ocd. The sleep study wasnt fun, but the place I had it done was great. My gallbladder ultra sound found gallstones, which explains the chest pain I get. I am haing my gall bladder out the week prior to the band. The only negative part so far, was the insurance. I had United Health coverage and was denied twice with them. It was a long waiting game. I was expecting to have the surgery in april but they kept denying me, even with letters and my comorbidities. I have sleep apnea, a high bmi, bad knees. Anyway my job luckilly switched to blue cross on August 20 and with in days I was Approved!!!!!!!! Thank heavens for Blue cross. I did rack up alot of bills thanks to my deductable with united. like the cpap machine (about 500) the anesthesia to the endoscopy (about 200) etc. I had a 1000 deductable with united vs 250 with blue cross. What really gets me mad, and Im sure alot of you had this..I weighed 330 when I started this journey, but then thru the stress of the insurance, and the tests, and the thinking of the surgery I gained weight...Im up to 354. I Have been on a diet for 2 weeks now, and the surgery and my drs warning is really motivating me. So My gallbladder surgery is october 16 and the lap band is october 23. I am soooo scared, yikes! I had surgery before, but nothing like this naturally. Thanks for listening
