Weekend (non)Eating Stategy

(Say this in your best Mrs. Doubt fire voice.)

GOOOOOD MORNINGGGGGGG!

Hello everyone! Nice to see you on this super Saturday! I'm here because I need weekend support. I usually do fairly well during the weeks, but weekends turn to a FREE-FOR-ALL. I live in Vegas, so someone is almost always viiting, or I'm working parties, or riding with my motorcycle people. Every single day gives me an excuse to eat crap. Wings, Fingers, Fries, pizza, you name it!

So today my challenge is to eat a salad for lunch with oil and vinegar. Lots of Water, and a nice Protein based dinner with veggies and maybe a lil tater. (I just jumped clear off my seat cause Voodoo barked out the window and startled me.)

I'm so happy today - even though I didn't get any sleep. I'm not sure why, but let's all have a fabulous weekend and try to lose a pound while we're at it!

Okay...... this used to work for me when I lost 150 lbs.

You really need to train the brain. Tell yourself that the wings, fries, pizza will always be here, it will be here tomorrow as well but for today, I'm going to pass. food will always be on earth, we won't. Let me make this a good day. Take it one meal at a time.

I used to say this to myself over and over and over and over.... BRAIN WASH YOURSELF!!

No, its not easy, but its worth a try. Also tell yourself that it doesn't taste as good as it looks.

ENJOY LIFE !!!!

Delarla, remember the theme from the Mary Tyler More show? .... imagine me singing this to you "your gonna make it after all." I can picture you singing this to yourself and then throwing your helmut in the air ROFLMFAO !!!!

Visualize that movie "Norma Rae" where Sally Field is standing there with the sign over her head. Only her sign says "eat healthy". You are strong. You are a warrior. You are in command. You. Are. A. FIGHTER.

Now get in there champ! And don't come back to the corner until you've won the round.

Alright DeLarla, we're here to help you get through the weekend. I have the same struggles with the weekend. I'm usually working the whole weekend, and I just sit here hearing the vending machines and the cafeteria calling my name. Even right this moment I am thinking about eating my left over salad from yesterday, or maybe walking across the street to the cafeteria to grab some oatmeal or cream of wheat (my favorite!) Honestly, I am a bit hungry, but I told myself that I need to wait until lunch. I drank a big ol' Protein drink (chocolate Protein powder mixed with water) at 6am, it's now 8:30 and I really want some Breakfast. My food/exercise strategy for the day is:

1. Protein shake for Breakfast.< /p>

2. Eat left over salad from yesterday for lunch (spinach, egg, cheese, turkey & ham)

3. Eat small Protein rich dinner, maybe some salmon and some green veggies.

4. Go to the gym and work out on treadmill for at least 1 hour (4 miles) then do some ab & leg work with weights and machines.

Then do it all over again tomorrow, but for now I'll focus on today.

Can I do it???? Honestly I don't know. Wait, take that back, YES I CAN !!!

Woo hoo, I'm a step ahead of the game! When I was typing this thread in the morning darkness, I saw my little tenacious neighbor lady power walking past my window (she's out there daily, like 75 yrs old.) So I grabbed the dogs and hit the park, then did push ups, sit ups, weights. Now I'm taking a short break before cleaning like a mad woman to 80's party hits!

I love snap peas, and I'm going to stock up! It's pretty funny throwing my helmet up because every time I wear a hat I act like Mary Tyler Moore, but nobody gets it. I'm glad ya'll are whacked like me.

I need Protein powder! I'm out of shake makins!

My song is, "I WANT TO BREAK FREE." I went to We Will Rock You last weekend, which is a musical set to Queen music. I bought one of those orange rubber band bracets with Queen on one side and I WANT TO BREAK FREE on the other. I'm going to put it on.

Time to sign off. I'm not burning any calories here!

Now my turn to get tough: Why is Corrine the only one that wrote her weekend plan? HUH? Log it in here, babies!

Look at you up and at it already!!! Just think of all the calories you've already burned and it's only 9am! I am going to try to focus on work and not food. Oh please 4:30 get here fast!

I had similar thoughts last night - I went to a Casino party and the food was cheese cubes, fried chicken, sausage weenies, fried southwest eggrolls, mini beef sanwhiches w/ white bread, and chips and salsa. There was NOTHING mushy and NOTHING healthy! I just downed Water after water until I could get out of there and get something to eat. So you can tell yourself "I don't need to eat here b/c I am going to eat as soon as I leave" and that helps more than just feeling like you can't eat at all! Aldo, having a Protein Shake before you go to something like that can help - or stick a canned one in your purse and take it with you! Anywas, good luck w/ your plan and I have a feeling you will do great!

I either do awesome on weekends or really bad. I started out bad last night so I'm going to try and turn this around.

I got up this morning and had a Protein shake with milk and soy Vitamin. Then I did a 3 mile 1 hour walk. (Wish I was in good enough shape to walk faster)

Unfortunately, then I made 2 eggs and 4 pieces of bacon. A 1.5 pieces of bacon and 1/2 - Schnapps the spoiled dalmation ruled again.

I just put on a pair of TIGHT jeans - the first time I've wore them since 1997. I won't be able to eat much. But it is supposed to be 70 today so I'm either putting steak or pork chop (lean) on the grill. Of course, I share with Schnapps.

Tight jeans is my strategy today.....I will try and walk at least 1 more mile...and no potato chips today...I will set my Sunday goals tonight. Celeste

Jack

Savor that Tillamook stuff. cheese is $5 lb in Dallas!! We can only afford it on special occassions. There isn't any decent cheese MADE that can compare. Savor the Tillamook... One of probably 5 things I miss about the Northwest.

Lisa,

Be tough. You get a gold star for exercising today. Double stars if you do it again tomorrow!! You are a goddess among women - YOU CAN DO IT. Goddesses don't need sugar! Goddesses don't need carbonation. Goddesses don't take any crap from any head devils... Be the goddess we know you are!

hugs.

My husband knows that I hate blue cheese.. so he pours it over my forbidden food so I don't eat it. He watches me make the food or put it on my plate and waits to the last second to do this (or if he has an earlier opportunity he does it then). At first I am so pissed off at him and I yell and scream at him.. but in the end.. I'm trying to lose weight and learn healthier eating patterns.

I know that some people would smack their loved one around if they did what my husband does to me, But I actually appreciate what he does to stop me from over eating or eating too much of a bad thing. He had issues with doing this to me because he felt is was mean. I begged him to do this to help me make better choices. I have to say that this has helped me out a great deal. I am more conscience of my eating habits now. I look at that plate and see all the calories and fat that I don't need. (He even takes a bottle to the restaurants). Now I do this on my own, when we go out or when we are at home I make dinner and fill the plates up, I still put a tiny bit of the "bad" food on my plate and top it w/ blue cheese so that I'm not tempted.

Two times a month I have a cheat day and I'll tell my husband ahead of time and of course, he leaves me alone. The only time this failed is when we had pizza on cheat night and he poured blue cheese on my fourth slice.. he said I was pushing it. I just smiled and said.. Thank you.

Lisa - great start to your weekend! I always blow it on the weekends too, cause we have "picky nights" where I just put together a bunch of appetizers. And then of course I want one of each lol. You're doing great. I sure wouldn't be able to pass up the Vegas temptations on a regular basis!!

I usually eat less on weekends than I do during the weekdays. For one thing, there's lots happening and for another I eat less when somebody is around to see what I'm eating.

Checking in - I managed 2 more miles yesterday for a total of 5. I did have a few potato chips but nothing like my Friday nite binge. To stop myself from pigging out I went to bed at 8 last nite.Oh, the life of a single.

Today I'm going to walk 3 miles, finish cleaning house, and try to eat healthy. Oh, hopefully I'm gonna go for a ride.

Lisa, how did you do? Celeste

So much for my weekend strategy. First, I ate a grilled cheese sandwich & fries for lunch. I PB's on the 5th bite so I decided to get a warm cup of tea to wash it down with so that I could eat the rest of it. What is wrong with me???? Then I ate some red licorice. Once I got home I ate 2 slices of pizza, microwave popcorn, and a BabyRuth (over the course of 5 hours). What is wrong with me??? It's hard to believe that I am super tight in the morning-so much so that I'm thinking of getting a partial unfill. Yet at night I can stuff my face like there's no tomorrow, and not even feel the tiniest bit uncomfortable. What is wrong with me??? Yes I know I've asked that 3 times now. The really sick part is that I've been busting my butt at the gym and even though I've been eating a ton of food, mostly junk, I have gained 2lbs this week and I am trying to convince myself that it is muscle weight. Yeah right! But seriously even with all of the calories I consume, I burn a ton at the gym. No time this morning for my Protein Drink as I was running late. Instead I had a capuccino and 2 pieces red licorice. I can already hear the cafeteria calling my name. Anyone have ear plugs???

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
