Hi everyone. I had my lap band surgery October 19th. Everything went well. My recovery is going good I think except for a pain right under my breasts. I am not having heart trouble! Does anyone have this same pain? I don't know which side my port is, so that can't be it. Help someone!

I'm having the same pain. Just had my band yesterday. It's probably gas pains. They told me you could have pain in your chest, shoulders and neck?

Congrats to both of you on your surgeries!

It probably is just gas pain, but if its worrisome to you then I would call your doctor. After my surgery, I called my doctor for every little thing that made me worried. He was very helpful in reassuring me! Good luck :blushing:

I was banded on Monday also. I also have pain, and my doctor said it was due to the gas pumped in during surgery.

Walking helped to move the gas along.

Hang in there - you are not alone!

I had the same pain and it was worse than the pain in the shoulder. It was right between my breasts and traveled up into my throat. It felt better if I forced a burp but the pain came right back again.

I knew it wasn't my heart (BP was normal and pulse was low). I called my Dr and he recommended I go to the ER for an EKG but Ididn't. I tried Gas-X and no relief but then took 2 tbsp of Milk of Mag and had almost instant relief. I did have to take the MOM for 3 days, every 6-8 hours.

I saw the Dr a few days later for my first fill but he said it was GERD symptoms so he took out all the air in the band.

I haven't had the pain since, but I am starving and eating anything and everything I can get at. Gained 2 lbs this week.

I see the Dr on Thursday and I am insisting on a fill so I can stop eating as much.

I was banded Oct 8 and had some decent pain under my breasts -- mainly in the middle -- for about the first week, then it went away. Then about 10 days post op, I developed pretty nagging pain below my left breast (right where the spleen is), that lasted for about three days. It hurt when I inhaled, stepped hard, laid on my side, etc and felt better when I applied pressure to the area. Occasionally the pain would travel up to my left clavicle area. It worried me a little since it started so long after surgery, but I didn't call the dr about it.

I believe the initial pain was caused by gas and the after-effects of abdominal surgery in general, and the secondary pain was caused by a combination of gas and Constipation concentrated at the splenic flexure.

If you are concerned, follow isaviolinist's advice and contact your dr. I had pain of one sort or another for exactly 13 days after surgery. Then like magic, the 14th day -- all of my pain was gone.

Now, the hunger...:blushing:

I was also banded Monday and had a lot of pain in my chest and between my shoulder blades. Now I just feel so bloated especially in the upper abdomen. Nothing seems to help. I've tried walking and gas-x. I'm miserable. I might try the milk of mag, see if that helps. I'm also having a lot of different emotions right now. I'm feeling hunger and everyone around me is eating and I'm tired of sitting around my house. Went to Walmart today and had some pain when I got home. I'm wondering why I did this.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
