Stand still with weight?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone else have a problem with gettin to a point where you just seem to stay at certain weight, even after a fill..? I would really like some input as to why..I have lost 41 pounds since my lapband surgery feb/09. What can I do to keep the process moving to lose weight..I exercise and drink plenty of protien shakes..So just wondering if there is anyone out there with the same problem.. Thanks

Maybe you are drinking too many calories. Try stopping the Protein Shakes and see what happens.

Hello,

I would like information on this topic as well. I just had my surgery on 10/15 and the first week I lost 14 pounds. Now I am in week two and my weight loss has come to a stop. I don't expect to keep losing as much as I did the first week...but I expect to lose something. I have been eating 800-1000 calories a day and I am wondering if my body is trying to hold on to the extra weight since I am eating so few calories. Did anyone else stall on their weigh loss at first?

BrookeLynn, Post-op is a frustrating time. You've been on liquids only, your bowels are pretty much empty (which is part of the 14 pounds more than likely). You'll transition to mushy and then solid food and you may gain a bit as your bowels return to their normal amount of stuff inside.

Sommerbrez, Ditton on the Protein shakes. Stop them completely. solid food will make you feel full longer and the change in calorie intake and just the change-up in what you're taking in should move the scale again. I've been told not to drink my Protein anymore at all, except in unusual circumstances, that I should be eating solid protein like meats, eggs, cheeses, etc.

I had been on a plateau for quite a while and I had stopped drinking Protein Shakes. I started them again and added a exercise that include a stationary bike instead of my usual 2 mile walk and the weight slowly started dropping. The weight loss is slow and it still goes up and down a pound or two so I do not claim to have the perfect solution. Some other threads have talked about the idea of a "set point" where your body gets stuck at a weight it might have been for a period of time, sort of a previous stable weight (though an overweight weight). The thinking is that you need to push past that previous set point and you will start losing again. I don't know if this is an accepted medical theory or not.

Just keep trying. I would not stop the Protein shakes, however. I do not think you can get enough protein without them. Just my opinion.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
