I got my surgery date of October 29th! Halloween is my favorite time of year so I find it suiting. I have lost 15lbs on a pre-op diet and I still have 12 days on a liquid diet. I wish everyone the best of luck and I hope to figure out how to navigate this website to get and give support!

It took me a while to figure it out too..

I am 6 days past surgery and still having "gas" issues' If i was a gas powerd ship, I could sail around the world..

Just play with the website-- soooooo much info from other bandsters...

Keep us posted.

I was banded yesterday, 10/12/09. Surgery went smoothly. They also fixed a hernia, that I didn't even know I had, around my esophagus and stomach. I am a little sore, especially around my shoulders from the gas, but no pain thanks to the disgusting liquid pain meds.

Good luck to the rest of the Oct. bansters getting ready!

I am with you on the disgusting liquid pain meds !! Y U K !!!!

As thirsty as I am , that is the LAST thing I want to drink!!

Hey guys - my surgery went well. My dr did have to repair a severe hiatal hernia before the lb procedure and he did take a liver biopsy. My surgery was at 0830 and they let me stay the night and I didnt leave the hospital till afternoon on Friday. I am doing pretty good. Stopped taking the pain meds on saturday. I am going to try to go back to work for a half day tomorrow. Today is the first day I feel pretty good. I am losing over 2 lbs a day so thats cool. I am sure that will taper off. I actually am feeling restriction like when i eat 3 oz of yogurt or sf Jello. I got the smaller lapband so I am sure I wasnt supposed to feel restriction yet but I am. Yea... How are you guys doing after your surgery???

Go Tory I felt restriction too and couldn't figure it out. But surgeon told me that it was swelling from surgery. I was never hungry until week 3 and decided to stay on full liquids b/c felt good there. Oh I had tried a boiled egg and it didnt feel like it went down right. So:thumbup: I decided for me best to not have fill and am waiting 2 more weeks to adjust. I felt I needed the strength before moving on. I had surgery on 9/23 and down 29 lbs. Best to you and keep me posted.

Jordangirl - I got the AP Lapband and received the smaller band. They have 2 sizes. The reason I chose the AP lapband was that I knew it would have a bit more restriction to start off with than the realize, since the realize was more pliable and lose compared to the ap lapband. The dr said my liver maybe a little fatty but we will see the results soon and not to worry because the liver can heal itself. With weightloss it will become nonfatty. I had my gallbladder out 7 yrs ago and they did a biopsy then too and it was fine.

Good luck to you all!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
