I left the same day, although my doc usually keeps his patients overnight. I felt great and like most, sleep better at home etc. Three nights is WAY WAY WAY too long unless you have a medical need; you won't sleep as well (hospitals are noisy, even overnight) and many of us would be bored to tears. I'd honestly agitate for a refund. That's assinine.

I was banded on 8/11 around 10:30 a.m. and went home on Wednesday morning about 10:30 a.m. No pain meds in hospital or at home. I have some liquid Lortab but haven't used it. I seem to have a high tolerance for pain. I had more trouble with gas than anything.

I was an outpatient and kind of wish that I'd been able to stay overnight. I think a lot of that is because my bed is kind of low to the ground and getting in and out of it hurt a lot, though

I had to stay one night due to insurance requirements. It worked out well for me. I have a congenital heart defect and the side effect (likely of the anesthesia) was bradycardia (slow heart rate) and as a result - low oxygen saturation. My heart rate was right around 38 beats per minute when I was resting and would jump up to about 50 when I was moving around in bed. I slept well even when the nurses and CNAs were pokin and prodin, probably because my heart rate was so low. the only time they really got me motivated to do much of anything was when they threatened to insert a catheter if I didn't start drinkin Water and peeing!! lol that woke me right up. :mad2: I agree with some of the others, 3 days seems excessive unless you have complications.

Good luck.

I too was a self pay.. I stayed one night in the hospital, that is what my cost included. I had my morphine pump.. YEAH! LOL I wasn't brought up to my room until about 5:45pm and I was released about 2pm the next day and I was just fine... good luck!!

Hi Everyone,

I will be banded in mid Oct...and I'm self pay...

The "global price" includes all services/surgery/hospital stay/etc. This includes 3 nights in the hospital if I want/need it. There is no refund if I stay less than the 3 nights.

So the question is...did any of you leave same day or next day from surgery and wish you had stayed longer in the hospital? confused.gif

I don't sleep well in the hospital (who does?), but I like the idea of having IV meds handy just in case as well as the nursing staff for the extra assistance/care.

Thanks for the advice! :mad2:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
