Hey guys. Quick post so I can go back to bed.

They took me an hour early into surgery which was fine with me. I was back in my room about and hour and fifteen minutes later. Woke up and my mouth was so dry and my shoulders felt like they had been kickboxing me. The nurse that that that was what a lot of people complained about. Shoulder pain and it's caused by the gas. She said to get up and get moving and it will works it's way out. We were able to leave close to 3:30pm before there was to much traffic. I fell asleep twice in the 35 minute drive. Came in and went right to bed to see if I could get comfortable Slept for about 2 hours. Now I'm drinking diet 7up and sucking on hard candy to help get my mouth back in order.

Doc said the surgery went very well, Easy to repair and that the band looked good. Amen. I go see him on Dec. 30th. for a fill.

Thank You so much for the thoughts and prayers. I truly appreciate them and you guys.

So glad to hear about Kat's mom, I'm sure that a big relief to Kat and now she can enjoy the grandkids a little more.

Tracy - I never thought of that... although gaining 14lbs you would think it would be tighter... My head is back in the game. So we will see. At least I'm going to nutrition on the 13th. then can schedule another fill if I need to.

StrangDz - that is odd. I use to take trazadone, now i have a mentally and physically draining job and sleep like a rock. Good luck with the meds, I remember my experimenting..

Going to snuggle with my Baby

It is good to hear that everything went well! I hope the gas pains ease up so you can rest.

I just got up from a nap and I need to go get dressed for the midnight showing of Harry Potter. Have a good night all!

Yay Suzie!! Glad all is well. Rest now....really rest!!! No working in the yard, house or anywhere else!! Don't make us call Darrell........lol.

I am also glad Kat's mom is doing good. I hope she pops in soon.

Welcome StrangeDZ. This is a great group...come on in.

I didn't mention this for a while because I was afraid of putting it out there. I guess I need to get it off my chest now. Mike is having gastric bypass on the 21st of December. I have really mixed emotions about it. We started this lapband journey together and I thought we would continue together :) . Remember me mentioning that statement my doctor made?? It's hitting home now.

He has put all of his weight back on and his sleep apnea is horrid (snoring, good God...). He is just at the point where he doesn't want to fool with the band anymore. I really want to see his health improve and I want him around for a very long time...but a part of me is resentful. I don't know if this is the answer. I hate to see him give up on the band but I guess the bottom line is that he has made a decision and I need to support him.

I need to get on to bed, we have an early start tomorrow. I will be off from tomorrow til the 29th...bouncing around with family so I will check in when I can.

Have a good one,

Angela

Jenn, How's Dylan feeling? And I love that name. Poor thing, I hate to hear that he's been throwing up. Yuck.

1am and I'm awake. I went to bed about 10:30 but found I could only sleep in one position. I tried even sleeping on my tummy but on my right side I kept getting a sharp twinge, same thing happened laying on my right side and on my back. So back over to my left side and there I slept for awhile. Good thing I don't have to work today.

But I do have a Doc appointment. He wants to take the cast off of my foot and re-evaluate it. If all is ok, I go home. If not, another cast.

Michelle. Any news on the foot. I have a bone spur on my root foot. Right on the bottom. It doesn't cause any problems so I'm leaving it alone. But about 6 years ago I had the spur from the bottom of my left foot removed. I actually styaed awake for the surgery. It turned out comical. But Doc had a tough time. He ended up breaking 3 saw blades getting it cut Glad I had it done though. It was really painful to step on. Good Luck and I hold it is a quick fix for you.

Hi Debbie and Shar.

Tracy, by any chance did you and Kat get to spend anytime together. I do really hope so. How's my little see-loooker doing? Poor little thing. I always hate when children are sick, especially babies. They can't tell you they don't feel good or what's wrong. They can't spit or blow things out. Just too sad to see. Hopefully some rest and Mom time is just want Macy needs to get better.

Ok, gonna watch tv for awhile and then head back to bed. See ya all soon.

Good Morning all

Angela - Oh I can see why you are torn - that has to be tough, but you have a good mind set.

Maybe that could be good, because there is a totally different set of rules.. like no sugar and things like that. I don't know about you but I know I can eat candy and let me tell you..I sure do, which i never really did before, so maybe it will enhance your journey?

Ok i don't know where my positive attitude is coming from this am... LOL

Either way, we are here for you too :)

Suzanne - hope you got back to sleep. sounds like you are feeling pretty good.

Dylan is feeling better. Alexandra was borderline not feeling well last night so they are staying home today

Tracy - how is Macy doing? Did you guys get some sleep i hope?

Cindy - how was Harry Potter? my dd has been watching all the movies this week and is going tonight (i think) with her friends.

Well, I guess I have 15 minutes to get ready and I'm still sipping my coffee in my robe. I am down 4 this am, so there is hope I can get down below my lowest

have a wonderful

Good morning everyone~

Macy did not get up last night at all. She has no fever this morning and her throat looks a little better than yesterday. Still has ulcers but her tonsils are not as swollen. She said she feels a little better today. I will keep my fingers crossed that this is the first real healing day.

Cindy~if she gets worse again today like yesterday I will for sure bring her back to the dr before the day ends.

Suzanne-glad you are posting again. I hope you mend quickly. (((hugs)))

Angela-I hope Zacks surgery goes well! I will text ya. I feel your pain about Mike decision to have bypass. I agree with Jenn. I think with his journey, you will jump on the bandwagon. I know of my dh were to do something like that, my eating habits would improve tremendously! Roll with it and just look forward to it just as much as he is. It IS a new start for both of you if you allow it to be :)

Ashley-sorry to hear that you are having computer problems. That is such a pain.

Michelle-how are you?

Shar & Debbie...please post. We miss y'all. Hope everything is OK. We do not like it when friends go MIA

Jenn-I am glad that you have your groove back. This fill is gonna be just what you needed.

Everyone~have a fantastic day. What is y'alls plans for the weekend? We are just going to hang around here and get macy well. bye y'all :)

Tracy..I'm so glad Macy is feeling better!!

Angela...that is tough! I think I would be upset too, but then again, when I decided to have my band put in, my husband was in total support of me. But he did say something that has stuck with me. He said "It's your body, and I cannot tell you what you can and can't do to it." It made me feel so much more comfortable with any decision I make regarding my body. All you can do is be supportive. And I know if my DH had the bypass, it would probably help me since bypass patients aren't supposed to eat sugar. lol

Suzie..I'm glad your surgery went well! I hope you got back to sleep!!!

Well, I'm at work with my laptop. I'm kind of dreading doing everything manually. Man, computers really spoil you. lol And I hope my customers understand! I hope yall have a great day!

Tracy, I hope your kids are feeling better and you are trying to get some rest. My youngest son is named Dylan, too. Right now I am fighting off a cold, so far I think I'm winning. I have to work all weekend...ugh! Right now I'm sitting here trying to get motive to do housework, I think I'll have a hot cup of tea and get started. :)

Hey Shar, Good to hear from you. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get the cold licked. Bad time of year to get sick. And I like you sons name also, lol.

Ashley, So glad you got the computer fixed without loosing anything. That happened at out work once but every night before we shut it down, we always run a back-up. Thanks goodness we do. The compuer was fried.

I did go back to sleep for about a hour and a half. Got up and passed the biggest gas bubble. Ohhhh, I feel so much better. About 2 or 3 more of those and I feel like a new person.

Not much going on here this weekend. They are calling for a little warm weather, should be in the sixties. But after Monday it's going to drop hard. So I might get out and take a stroll down to the corner and back. Sunday is Football day so that's all taken up.

Wish we would hear from Kat. But I bet she is having to much fun and spending too much time kissing and hugging.

Home from the foot Docs. He re-evaluated the foot and made the decision to put a cast back on it for 2 more weeks. I told him I didn't want a red cast that because my team has lost ever since I had it on. Right now my foot looks like Shrek sneezed all over. It's ogre green. I'll take a pic of it soon and post it.

Right now I'm really tired so I'm gonna get a little something to eat and then probably take a quick little nap.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
