Well I over did it today! I tred having some wonton Soup for lunch and I ate the first wonton too fast and I guess I didnt chew it enough. I cant begin to tell you how uncomfortable I became in a hurry, I felt like a ate a 2 lb steak!! I couldn't keep it down, and for half an hour I felt terrible, not to mention making a mess. What a difference since I had my first fill last Monday!! It seems, Chinese food, poultry products and Pasta don't agree with me anymore. I'll be eating more cottage cheese with no sugar fruit cocktails for a while. That seems to go down very easily. The good news is I lost 4 more lbs since Monday.

im sorry to hear that, i was told that if that happened to go back on to liquids for 24 hours to let my stomach settle down again, because the muscles tighten up after being sick. i have lost 5 pounds since my fill on tuesday, i seem to be loosing a pound a day now. i am able to go back on to solids again this afternoon, but im still going to chop meat up very small just in case. i had spag bol last night for tea and that went down really easily i think it because i put some olive oil on my spaggetti to help it go down easier. hope you feel better soon

wow I am glad I am not the only one learning the wrath of my band... thought I was the only one blowing it! I need to turn in food log to schedule my second fill, seems most of you are on your second..... I am ready!

I am so excited for this year! Half way to goal and I know it is going to be more challenging now. I MUST get real on my exercise efforts to get the second half done! I feel so empowered. My self confidence is really begining to rocket and my dearest friends are so excited to see the changes in me.

DH is somewhat floored and I don't know if he will handle it. That is ok and I am ready... I am ready for MY future.

Boy my weight loss is still on the slower side. I swear I was not that bad with my food last weekend but yesterday morning I was back up to 199, today I am 198.2 so I just dont get it.

Also a question for the ladies. Has your period been normal since surgery? I was banded just AFTER my period on 11/25 my period after the surgert began 3 weeks ago. 2 days normal and almost 3 weeks of spotting now I feel like its getting ready to be full blown again. I know I am pre menopausal but wondering if any of the ladies have had post surgery issues?

Hi Guys, I have had a few of those experiences of eating just a tad too much since my fill, and as you all know its very uncomfortable. I'm going to stick with soft foods, Soups, and and pureed foods for the time being. I even had a little blood come up from getting all clogged up. I spoke to the Dr's office today and they said its just an irritation and will go away.

The great news is I lost my 60th lb today! I'm in shock over the effectiveness of the LAP-BAND® and how quick its working. My only question now is who gets my old pants and shirts:biggrin:

Hello to all of my November friends!

I got stuck last night too...on turkey meatloaf no less and thats supposed to be a "soft" food. I just need to eat slower, it seems to happen when I am very hungry. And yes it is sooooo painfull, and scares my 4 year old. So I need to be extra carefull.

I go on Monday for fill #3 .... I pushed to get the appointment and now I am a bit shy since I got stuck, but I am still not loosing just maintaining so maybe this will help. My portions are MUCH smaller, so if they get a bit smaller yet and I get my big ol butt on my elliptical I know I'll do better :)

What are you all doing as far as getting cardio in?

I wish your fill was Monday the 1st... Then we could hook up. I am going in for a fill and my re-psych eval, and follow up with Dr Horgan.

Have you had a fill under floro yet? that is what I am doing on this on coming up.

The only problem I've had with my period is that my band gets really tight. I guess it could be because I retain Water right before and during my period. It makes me feel really nauseous in the mornings. But other than that, my periods have been normal.

Actually, I am annoyed... I have the Mirena for almost 3 yrs now I think... never got any period except the begining when it was inserted.

Since the week of surgery I have 4 full fledged periods... perhaps due to weight loss? dunno but it is annoying!

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
