Any November 2009 Bandsters??

Recommended Posts

So I got banded on the 4 th of November. I am almost feeling as if nothing was done, other than the excrutiating gas pains. I am 3-4 weeks post op and have only lost 5lbs. my liquid , my soft , were only 1 week each. and now I am eating solids with little to no problem. I am feeling very discouraged. Does anyone have any advise or have you experienced the same? My first fill is supposed to be in 3 weeks, I can't wait. What till then?

Hi I got banded on the 13th and also have only lost 5 pounds while on the liquid diet. Since I started eating a little more I have not lost any. I understand how you can feel a bit discouraged I thought I would loose more with liquids only. We knew going in that it was going to be a slow gradual process however we humans love instant gratification. Just remember even if it is only 5 pounds is 5 pounds less to carry around and 5 pounds closer to achieving your goal.

5 pounds it's a GREAT START. Hang in there we are all going through this.

OK so here I am, banded on Wednesday and feeling so much better. I took a short walk around the block today and it was nice to get some air but felt kindof dizzy afterwards. So...just trying to drink water..its super hard to do now for some reason!

I know what you mean, there is NO WAY in God's green earth that I can possibly drink the 64 oz of Water my Dr wants me to. That includes broth, tea, Jello or any other clear liquid!

My new and improved tummy just will not hold that amount!

I'm with you guys on the liquids. I have had about 18 oz. so far today - maybe not even that much. I am trying. Ugh. I am thirsty but it's so hard to get liquids down!

Hi Knockouts!

I'm 9 days out and doing well. Pain is all gone except when I bend over, the port hurts. I'm actually beginning to wonder if it's going to have to be moved. I am high waisted and it's right where I bend...

Got moved to mushies on Tuesday, so I was able to have some mashed taters and green Beans on Thanksgiving.

Getting the liquids in is much easier now, too.

I go Dec 28 for my first fill and should be able to move to regular foods 2 days later. Mushies really do fill me up though, so let's hope tht keeps up for the coming month!

Only 3 more days for our fellow Knockouts! Who's left to be banded and how are you doing?

Ladies, it is cuz your tummy is swollen, wait til the swelling goes down and you will be fine on the liquids, trust me. less than a week it took me. i was thinking for days there is no way I am even going to come close on the Water, now I can drink at a normal rate.

Hello Team.

I was banded yesterday at about 3:00 p.m. I had terrible back pain the rest of the day (Doc said it was the gas), and in the evening he finally gave me something for the pain (and it disappeared) and I slept well. The doctor kept me overnight and I returned home today.

I'm feeling better. I'm just trying to get used to the "heart burn" pain that comes and goes in my chest. Is that normal?

I also feel really hungary and nothing seems to keep me full (broths only succeed for about a couple hours). Crytal Lights help too. Let me know if you know of any other ways to beat the hungar pains.

Hope all of you are doing well.

Got my band on Friday! Got to the hospital about 7:00, was in sugery by 9:30, and out of recovery at 12:30 or so. I slept in about hour long naps with a quick walk in between. Ice chips were amazing the first day, and the chicken broth today was extra good. My pain is mostly near the port, but also some gas pain in my chest. It took about six hours to drive halfway home, when it should have taken only four so I'm a bit wiped out. We are stopping for the night in 45 minutes where I can walk around and recline in a nice chair instead of the car (though I am fortunate that my dad's car has heated seats). Anyways I'll keep checking back in when I can! I'll also post pictures of my port and band (they did a barium swallow to verify placement).

Yaya, I beat the hunger / or wanting food by eating popsicles. I got some Bryers sugar free today and they are awesome....I have had like 5 of them today.

Right now I just want to eat because its looking and smelling good, but the popcocle fills me up and the cold is good fpr the stiches. I had a hiatal hernia repar as well so have a few extra stices to take care of.

I am now 3 days post op and my biggest problem is the gas in my bowls, TMI sorry but I have such bad gas and diareah its horrrible. The gas pain in my shoulders is better but I still can not take a deep breath without it hurting. I am looking forward to my shake tomorrow morning.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
