Any November 2009 Bandsters??

Recommended Posts

I was wondering if anyone ever has a fairly easy post op. A minimum of pain, not much of a gas problem, not to much discomfit. Or is it always a couple of days of "torture" Not quite, but you know what I mean. My procedure is Friday, and its just hitting me.

Mark

I had my surgery on the 18th. I have had little pain, incisions look great, no gas problems until today. My shoulder now is hurting pretty bad. I took the pain medication. For the most part the surgery hasn't been that bad. Everyday since I got home from the hospital I have walked for a hour in my neighborhood. I think that has helped in my recovery. Good luck with your Big Day! You will do fine.

I am scheduled to be banded tomorrow the 23rd at 11am. As with a lot of you, I just can't get enough information. So many different feelings going thru me...nervous, anxious, excited.

My insurance also denied me, so I am self paying..what a huge motivator for me to stay on track!!

I have been on strickly protien shakes for the last 2 weeks and will continue for 2 weeks after the surgery!

PS: for the gentleman heading to Tijauna...I think you will be fine! You will be in my prayers! I am also in the Tampa Bay area.

Me...kind of. The day after surgery I had some nausea/vomiting/diarrhea and felt crappy overall. After that I was fine. I never had any gas pain and never took any of the pain medicine they sent home with me. Of course I didn't feel 100%. I was tired and a bit sore, but not torture.

Mark - it really wasn't bad at all. My family can't believe how easy it has been for me, and I hate pain! Today's gas pain was killer, but like someone else said it is just hard to get it to get out of you (gross I know). The incisions itch a bit, but hardly, and the headaches I think are from eating less calories (not the surgery). Overall, it is way easier than I thought, and if you take it slow, do your 'sipping' and rest, you will do great! Best of luck to you!

Anyone else getting banded this week? (11-23 - 11-27)

I am so excited. Are you excited too? I am sure the day of I will be more nervous, but counting down with just today, tomorrow and then surgery...it is so exciting.

Any advice from freshly banded people?

No jitters yet. Have 2 friends who have had it done. One last month and one just last week. They are doing good and have told me all about what happens and how things go.

I am just so excited. Wednesday can not get here fast enough for me.

I'm going in this Friday, 11-27! So very, very excited. My dad and I are going to wake up at 2:30AM and drive down from the LA area to Mexicali... I hope to meet some other people at the hospital, but I don't know if anyone else is having surgery that day. It would be nice to have a buddy!

I just got off the phone with my surgeons office because I haven't heard from the hospital yet. My surgery is tomorrow, and I still don't know what time I have to be there, or when my surgery is scheduled. It just adds to the stress, or maybe it's just me, but darn....I've gone through all this and these last few weeks have been the S-l-o-w-e-s-t ever, and today's wait has me on hold so I can't go anywhere until they call. The girl at my surgeons said it could be up to 5:00 pm before they call. Geesh!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
