2 hr drive to dr's office...

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I have my first scheduled appt a week from today, but it is 2 hours from where I live. I have done alot of research on the doctor and I feel like I would really like him and there office, they have been very helpful over the phone so far. But it is a 2 hour drive one way... which is normally not a big deal but I have a lot going on right now... like 15 hours of school a week and i also work full time. I talked to my neighbor yesterday and he said his wife had the lap band down about 10 months ago here in our home town... I didnt know our town offered it... I couldnt find any doctors when I was researching it. But I thought about going to my family doctor and having him send me to someone here in our town, but that means i would have to wait! What should i do??? should i go with the appt i already have set up even though its 2 hours away or start completely over and get one in my home town????? Any advise is greatly appreciated!!

waco tx? dallas dr?

my dr was an hr away.

he then broke away & created his own practice which is an additional 30min - hr away ..... depending on dallas traffic.

finding the BEST possible dr is paramount - after care, huge component to this process.

i would go to your appt, then check out your local dr. do a comparrison & ask for stats.

while annoying to carve out the time needed to see my dr - he makes himself available 24/7, can't ask for much more.

When I started my process I had to travel 2 hrs 1 way also, I did my surgery with them. After surgery I moved to northen CA and ended up take 2 trips down to LA and that was an 5 to 6 hour trip 1 way. I say it was worth it in the end but I am glad now to have my dr only 45 min from me since I now have differnet insurance. Do what you feel is best for you.

My dr. is 2 hrs (one way)from me and is totally worth the drive!! His skill and reputation and of the hospital he is associated with are certainly of the highest quality. I am happy to drive that far to obtain the services I need. I even drive to the support group there that meets once a month.. So go for the best possible!!!! Good luck!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
