Suzyt- you're a glutton for punishment! Two boards at once for 7 years?? ay ya yay... Glad you're done with that!

I was only on both for 4 years and then the one for 3 more years, but yeah, enough is enough! Time for someone else to step up for a while!! I actually resigned and skipped my final year because I've had it with all the petty stuff -- kinda like Michelle's PTA drama. One of the guys that got elected last night is not someone I want to work with so I definitely will NOT be tempted to re-up any time soon.

Sorry about the early morning .... I was still awake at 3 am. Don't know why. At least I could sleep in this morning. Hopefully some news about the job tomorow. Keeping my fingers crossed. After 6 months at home, I am BROKE! and bored.:mad2:

Good afternoon, Violets..

Boy, we have lots of Vi's MIA, don't we???

I just got back from fimmin with Ethan. We didn't stay out as long because it's downright cool out there. At least the pool Water is still warm so I got my exercising in and just a little relaxing time when the sun came out. Certainly wasn't a lot. Probably only one more week of the pool and then it's closed up for the season. With all the earlier trouble with the heater, it's been so nice to have everything working right for the last month or so.

Suzy..good luck with the job!! My fingers are crossed for you and TracyinKs to get the jobs you want.

Things are not going well at my church. Salaries are going to be cut and programs as well to try and balance the budget. It's going to be a very stressful time and I'm looking at being done next June at the end of the choir season. The church is just not the same place anymore. I don't feel the joy and comfort I used to. I'd much rather be somewhere worshiping with the Bobster. That's impossible right now because he has chosen to stay away during this time of conflict so as not to muddy the waters, so to speak.

PamELa... have you been to a doctor????? Sure feel bad that you're not feeling well and still have all those things to do.

Jenn.. I got my flu shot yesterday. Not the swine flu shot.. just the regular. Hospital volunteers get them for free. I didn't get one last year, but I don't want to take the risk this year.

Jane... I ate a whole crunch wrap from Taco Bell yesterday. I need to get my head back in the game. Arghhhhhh

Haydee.. sorry you had to be the one to get up so early. Do they have any leads on who might have done it?

Kat.. I was so pleased to hear the report about Rick.. health and job. I know that's a big relief to you both.

((hugs)) to all the rest of the Violets. Hope things are going well for Michelle in New Jersey.

Judy, went to urgent care on Saturday to check to see if it was flu...which it is not. Just a viral infection, rest and fluids were prescribed!

Kat, that is great news about Rick! I would imagine you all hold your breath every year this time.

Jenn, why not getting the swine flu shot? What do we know about it?

Dr. Oz said 50% of Americans WILL get the swine flu. He said so many American's suffer from Vitamin deficiency, and that we should all be taking a supplement each day (1000 units). My band doctor said I was vit. D deficient and gave me prescription vit.d. D is responsible for immune system functions...going to buy some soon!

Where is everyone?

Judy, I feel so bad that you have been dealing with these church woes for so long. It seems never ending and who wants to be separated from their family during times of worship???

Suzanne, I always wanted to be on a board just for the experience. Maybe I am lucky I haven't had that exposure just yet, lol.

I also always wanted to do jury duty out of curiousity but they never call me :0)

I haven't heard anything about the swine vaccine around here. I need to read the paper and watch the news. I just haven't had any time.

Pam - can you believe I still haven't tasted those darn nachos? I dream about them all the time and we have a denny's right down the street but haven't made it down there...

Judy - glad you got to enjoy your pool. It seems like you missed the whole beginning of the summer but were finally able to get in... My parents pool that was supposed to have been ready in JULY is still not ready. Luckily we have pretty mild temperatures around here and we can still use it in October but it will suck if that pool gets finished at the start of our "winter" season.

Suzy - good luck with your job search. One of my Facebook friends had been looking forever. For like a year. And she finally started at one on Monday and today she informs us that it sucks, LOL. That really sucks!!!

Heather, me too! My mom keeps getting called for jury duty and she hates it. I've never been called and I soooo want to do it, LOL.

Judy - I agree, the politics of the church are so sad. We go there for peace and prayer and then for all this to happen so sad. Are they still going ahead with the "consultant" to come in and "train" the pastor?

Suzanne, I always wanted to be on a board just for the experience. Maybe I am lucky I haven't had that exposure just yet, lol.

Heather, I have been lucky that the boards I have been on (three different homeowner's association boards) have all been kinda informal and everyone has gotten along well so we haven't needed the formality of most board meetings. We always followed an agenda, etc, but didn't get bent out of shape if some broke into the conversation with something different. I guess I am an informal kind of person so it worked ok. Haven't studied Robert's Rules of Order.

Judy, I too am saddened that you have so much strife at church. My parents are quite active in their church and I cannot imagine them going to two different churches. (I almost was an Episcopal priest's daughter -- my Dad went to seminary for a year or so)

Laura, did you parents figure out who sent the letter they got?

Well, I think I am getting back in the right mindset. I walked on the treadmill this morning while the cable, phone and internet were out and went to Curves this afternoon. I did have them take out the abs exercises and the squat machine for a while to recover from the surgery, but it felt good to work out and get all green dots!! Yea Curves smart!! The food intake is still the hardest part but I've done ok with that today as well. It all starts with the first day......

Good evening, Violets..

Just back from my singing rehearsal. Our concert is on the 27th so we're getting down to crunch time. Actually we are sounding pretty good. Just a couple of glitches in a couple of pieces. Once those get cleared up it will sound really good. We're singing things like Fields of Gold, Don't Know Why (Nora Jones version), Moon River, The Way We Were and lots more. All of it is acapella.

Haydee.. the church is in negotiation with the consultant to see if he will accept our proposal for him to come and try and "fix" the problem. My method of fixing would be to say.. this isn't working out.. you need to leave. But what do I know?

He'll be here for at least another 3 months. I just don't get it. If you knew that you were splitting the church, wouldn't you gracefully bow out for the good of the church?? Apparently it's all about him in his mind.

Suzy... good job on the exercise. When the pool gets closed up, I'll be on my Trikke for as long as the weather holds.

Tomorrow is choir rehearsal and then Bob and I are leaving Thursday afternoon for a mini-get away. We're heading to Traverse City.. 2.5 hours away just to leave all the stress behind for awhile. We'll be back Saturday night.

Off to watch some tv and relax a bit before bed. Ethan comes early tomorrow for the day.

Everyone sleep well.

Good morning, Violets..

I'm up and waiting for Ethan to arrive for the day. It's dark and dreary out, but hopefully it will brighten up as it gets later in the morning. In my previous life I would have already been up for 3 hours, driven 62 miles to school and would be waiting for the munchkins to arrive. I'm very happy I'm home on the computer talking to the Vi's.

Everyone have a great day!!

Good Morning Girls~

Sure is quiet in here. Some bad feelings still around?

I am sick again. After going in yesterday and falling asleep at my desk during 6th period and the kids needing to wake me up when the bell rang, I need to stay home again. SUCKS to start off this way, but we went to get Vit. D yesterday...and am going to take 1000 units a day! IMPORTANT FOR IMMUNE, JOINT AND BONE HEALTH. Hoping I don't have a bad year.

I have back to school night tonight...sucks but gotta do it. I'd pretty much have to be dead or in the hospital to miss it.

Have a great day! Maybe we need to get some flying monkeys out soon. It is sadly quiet in here lately...sad:confused::):sad:

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
