Finally have a date!!

Recommended Posts

I have been lurking around the website every couple of days, seeing all of the great info and support offered. I started thinking about banding a couple of years ago. I did alot of research coming to the decision. I actually started my process in April 09, and have a date of Sept. 14th. I'm really excited. My only apprehensions are that my husband will not be here for the SX and the pureed foods part of the after diet. I gag at mooshy food, so that will be a tough 10 days for me. But I'll make it through!! Can't wait to hear more stories from people!! :w00t::frown:

CONGRATULATIONS on your surgery date!! That is just around the corner. YAY! I have yet to hear anything back from the insurance, so I am still pre-op, but I too gag at the thought of mushy food. Unless of course, it is something like mashed potatoes. If it is soggy bread......YUCK!!!!! Anyhoot, best of luck and keep us updated!! :frown:

The insurance part is kind of scary. I was told that my insurance had NEVER denied anyone with my surgeons office, so imagin my surprise when I was denied. They said I didn't meet the requirements, so I automatically assumed my co-mobidities weren't bad enough..come to find out, I didn't weigh enough, I was tow pounds shy. That was the first time since I was a kid that I WASN'T big enough for something, usually quite the opposite. Anyhow, I got that all taken care of and had the approval hours later. Good luck to everyone, we are making a great life-changing decision, which I know will affect the rest of my life in a great way!!:frown:

Congratulations! I am in the final phases of the process and expect to get a date soon. (possibly October?) I have been thinking about some of the post op phases myself (like the liquid diet) and hope too I can get through that because the desire to CHEW is going to drive me nuts but since failure is not an option for me, I am just going to try to make the best out of it, so do the same when you get to the pureed stage but trying mushy foods that are mushy by natural (like yogurt, applesauce, etc) because I cant imagine blending something like chicken to mush just to have the taste. lol Congrats again

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
