Hi Sue,

I saw my surgeon this evening and everything is fine!! :tt2: He said the major area of tenderness is around the port, which is to be expected. He said that it will be sore for awhile. Also, he did not feel that I went back to work too soon, but he did feel like working 9 hours was too much. He wants me to wait until the 18th before returning back to work. I still don't think he comprehends how physical my job really is.

Also, on the plus side, I joined a gym today. WHOO HOO!! I'm SO excited!! I can't wait to get started!!

Thank you soo much for your support!

For those who were discussing Probiotics, Bariatric Advantage recently started selling chewables. A ninety day supply is $19.95. strawberry flavor. Quite tasty.

I went to the gym on Wednesday afternoon and walked on the treadmill for 30 minutes!! It felt great to be out of the house and in motion!! But I am taking it very easy... step by step... day by day.

Thanks again for all of your support!!

Congrats!! you are doing fine. Really does sound like your doctor doesn't understand the amount of lifting, pulling, anfd pushing you do at work. ( All could affect the abdominal muscles)

I'm 17 days post-op and feeling good. I'm still walking on the treadmill every day. I tried riding a bike on Friday but my stomach area became uncomfortable. I'm still experiencing pain around the port site. But I'm doing really well. I'm thinking that I'll be well enough (healed enough) to return to work the week of the 18th.

I have one problem... I'm hungry all the time!!! UGH!!!!

Do drink , any kind of fluids you can tolerate, esp Liquid Protein drinks.. It will help with the hunger..

I slipped and fell on ice this morning at the local pharmacy. I landed pretty hard on my port area and am in pain. I am frustrated and scared that I may have done something to the port. I put a call into my surgeon and am just waiting to hear back from him. I'm going to lie down and rest until I hear from him. I don't know what else to do. I was on my way to the gym too! UGH!!! Not a way to start my week.

Hope the surgeon has reassured you. You may have bruised the site of your surgery; but everything may be OK. Just rest. It is treacherous. My car battery died this AM , so nothing went as planned, here either.

If you are hungry all the time...my suggestion is.........

add Protein to the Water you are sipping all day

I did that because I was so so so scared that I would get sick ..... I used powered skim milk and it really worked for me

why....I knew that i was constantly adding protein to my body and it had nature sugar in it and did not have the scared feeling of maybe fasting

I had my first post-op support group meeting on Monday night. That went really well. It was very informative. I was able to get ideas on how to deal with my hunger until my first fill. I know a lot of it is probably "head hunger." It's difficult to deal with since I am not working. It'll be easier when I return to work next week.

I'm feeling much better and am more active. I return to work tomorrow. I will be 4 weeks post-op on Wed, so I should be fine. I'm praying that everything will be fine, as I will be training as a supervisor.

My weight has stabilized. I'm drinking more Water and eating more Fiber. I'm still hungry but not as much. I'll have my 1st fill in approximately 2 weeks.

I will say that I was thinking that this was a mistake, but things are turning around. :(

Thanks for all your support!

Amy

I'm 4 weeks post-op and returned to work on Tues, 1/19. As many of you already know, I have had some ups and downs during my recovery. My job is physically demanding. I am a cashier at a local grocery store. I not only cashier, but also bag my own groceries most of the time.

I returned to work 8 days post-op and had to cashier and bag for 9 hours. It was a day from hell and set me back at least a week.

I'm really excited to share with you that so far, I'm doing really well. I feel great. I'm very active at work. I have been working 6-7 hr days. I am able to cashier, bag, and lift heavy items without distress. Today after cleaning and doing laundry, I am experiencing some pain at the port site. this is normal and to be expected. I am very pleased with how this week is going. I hope it continues this way.

If you are about to be banded and have an active job, please take an appropriate amount of time off from work to heal properly. This is about you.

Thanks again for all your support!!

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
