Banded August 12, 2009

Recommended Posts

I am feeling so, so, so much better today!! Day one I was up and walking in the hospital to try to alleviate the gas pain, holy mocha did they hurt?! Day 2 I still had nto passed gas and the pain was even worse. I was still on IV fluids until about 5pm when they gave me crystal light to drink and a pudding cup to eat. It hurt to swallow anything down, I think just becaus eof the breathing tube during surgery and of course obviously the tenderness in my stomach. So yesterday was my first full day home. One of my good friends took my kids to the zoo since my husband had to work, thanks goodness because I pretty much slept all day! I only had 2 of my 3 Protein shakes I was supposed to have and only 2 of the 4 Protein meals (pudding, broth, glass of milk, etc). I just slept so much that I couldn't fit them in. So this morning I woke up feeling so very much better! My doc sent me home on Lortab but I am going to try just extra strength tylenol so I don't get so drowsy, we'll see! I am so excited that the surgery is finally over. I had quite a process, I started all of this in September of last year and I just now got banded, about time!!

How do I set up a signature thing like you all have?

Hi, my name is Leah. I was also banded August 12th. Like you I had to walk the halls to get the gas out. This is day 3 for me, and I feel better! I started my Protein drinks today, and am progressing to full liquid diet. I'm excited to see what the future brings! If you want to keep in touch that would be great. I would love to have a band buddy!

As far as the ticker go to tickerfactory.com and just follow the directions.

Hope that helps!

Leah

Leah it would be great to be band buddies! e-mail me at my junk e-mail JessicaB526@gmail.com and then I will reply using my real e-mail address, that way if there are any spammers in here they won't have my correct e-mail to flood with a unch of junk, LOL! How fun to have someone who had their surgery the same day as me!!

I was also banded 8/12. Like you I was walking the day of surgery. I went home the next day at 3:30. The gas is finally passing and I hope the pain in my abdomen from that subsides. I also had the referred pain up in my left shoulder. I am having quite a bit of pain where my port is, so I have stayed on my hydrocodone/acetominphen Rx for now. I tried Tylenol yesterday but it made me semi-nauseous, so I am staying away from it for now since I had terrible nausea in the hospital that resulted in retching before I was given the right cocktail of anti-nausea meds.

I keep looking forward to the future and wonder how I'll look and feel a few month from now and it motivates me and encourages me to know I made the right decision to have the Lap Band procedure.

All the best -

Jen

Thankfully, I haven't had a lot of shoulder pain. I've had a lot of pain around my port. I have a hard time bending down and having to have hubby tie my shoes. lol

I am still having a lot of gas and some hunger pains. I'm eating my Jello, and am drinking plenty of fluids. I mixed some benefiber in with an apple juice/water cocktail so hopefully that will help. I haven't had a lot of nausea, and am trying to wean myself off of the pain meds. I have cut tylenol in half and am trying that for starters. I tried the childrens tylenol and motrin and I can't stand it. :smile2: It tasted a lot like pure sugar. No thank you!

What I am wondering is how long I will have the gas pain? I've been doing a lot of walking. The day after I was released from the hospital I walked 2 miles. I'm going to my friends son's football game tomorrow and am hoping that I do well.

If you want to exchange phone numbers and keep in touch, let me know.

Good luck and keep in touch!

Leah

I was also banded on the 12. If you want to find me I am on Facebook @ Stefanie Cumberledge, the one with the cat face picture. I will try to find you ladies too by emailing you. I am curiousw to know if anyone has lost any weight yet. I know this maybe a little premature but it helps me through these "tough" times. lol.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
