did anyone start the mushy/pureed stage a day ahead?

Recommended Posts

would it be ok you think? did anyone do it a day early?

i had something mushy that my brother made, had to Water it down cause it was too thick but after that went down ok and i had half a cup didnt even finish half a cup i think 1/4 or whatever cup after that will be enough, i still feel full which is good and i feel fine, so do you think a day early would hurt? not literally but its just a day before and im more satisfied when i ate that, what do you think? i dont want to have to call my surgeon again! ugh i need to start counting my cals again oh and the greek yogurt is actually good, i didnt think it would be haha

I think it will be fine. I actually started mushy stage the night before because I was so hungry and Soup just wasn't going to cut it. I haven't had any problem at all.

Erin, it seems that you already started mushies based on your post. I think most people on this site would tell you to check with your surgeon. There are reasons that our doctors give us dietary guidelines. They want us to heal properly. I doubt one day is going to make a vast difference, but I always ask myself if I'd take a chance. I wouldn't. But that's just me :). I'm a rule-follower from way back.

I wish you lots of luck and happy banding!

Sorry, I don't know the nutritional info on sweet potatoes - don't like 'em, don't eat 'em :). I'm sure someone will be able to help you. I also haven't heard of the fake lasagna...gotta find that post.

I think you're right in taking it slow, Erin. You want your body to adjust gradually. You most definitely don't want to barf or anything else icky.

Good luck tomorrow.

Erin

calorieking.com and thedailyplate.com both are great resources for looking up nutritional information on almost any type of food you can think of.

Like TPG, I also am a big rule follower and get nervous if I don't follow things by the book. Will 1 day make a difference? We'd hope not, but as always check with your doctor.

What guidelines did your docs give you for the full liquid stage? Some say 7 and some say 10... mine said 10 but wondering what everyone else has done..

I wish I was closer to the mushie stage, I AM STARVING! This site is the only thing that keeps me from straying away. I haven't had any stomach issues or nausuea so I am like common soft foods haha

On my guidelines they gave me it said at 1 week I could add mashed potatos, cream of wheat, baby food, well cooked veggies, veggie Soup, and well-cooked Beans. The doctor mentioned the cottage cheese and scrambled eggs as something for my liquid stage which confused me but I ate it because I desperately wanted to chew and it was heavenly! I also ate the cream of wheat early just very runny and I have had zero problems! I am definetly waiting on the meats until I get the clearance from the doctor. i haven't thrown up yet and I do not want to start!

Definitely ask your surgeon first! All of our doctors are different, our bodies are different and our surgeries were different. Your safest bet is to ask your surgeon. Even though it's one day, it may be the extra day of healing your doctor believes you need.

Good luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
