I have been overweight for as long as I can remember. The first time I was called fat was by a doctor doing a sports physical on me when I was a 14yr old Freshman that weighed 129 pounds. The weight continued to climb until I was around 180 at the time oof graduation. I lost about 20 pounds after that, began dating my now husband, and then got pregnant. I gave birth at 212 pounds and began losing the weight. At the point where I was fitting into my pre-pregnancy clothes, I chose to have the birth control device called the Norplant inserted in my arm. I gained around 80 pounds over the next year and continued to gain weight. They took the device out due to my reactions to it but my body never recovered. I went through my entire 20's as an overweight mom and wife with limited energy and bad knees due to my weight. I worked, finished school and became a teacher. With the insurance that I got as a teacher, I saw my light at the end of this fat tunnel. One of the happiest moments in my life was getting the phone call saying that my authorization had come in!
