Hi I have a question I thought when I had major oral surgery I would drop some weight .. Nope not a pound .. I am on liquids drinking no cal drinks and oatmeal and Beans not much but I can barely eat.. and I am soooooooo sick of protien shakes i cannot stomach another one..

I mean according to my scale I need to eat 2.500 calories to keep my current weight of 240 i am no where even close to consuming that about.. I have been exercising except for the last few days. My perios also started and hoping that is becasue i am retaining Water and I am very constipated from the oral pain medications I am on...

I was reading about getting a metabolic test but i have no clue what that all is about can anyone give me any ideas why I cannot lose a pound? or about the metabolic test how it is done etc?

I have 3.4 cc fill in 4cc band and I am not eating due to oral surgery I have 10 stiches in my mouth so eating is very painful ..

Thanks for reading

Lisa

Lisa,

sorry you are in pain. You may be retaining water....how long you have to be on liquids?

can you do any exercise? it may help you with the stress too.

I had stayed in the same weight for a long time, I need lot less calorie intake that what the book said:rolleyes.

Hope you feel better,

Lidia

I drink a Protein Drink for Breakfast . For lunch I had a salad made with spinach leaves and chicken breast. For dinner I have some sort of meat and veggies. I am not losing so I don't know what else to do.

I am so discouraged again. I am back too eating too much. I don't feel full and sometimes my cravings are unbelievable. I need to find that will power again. I feel like I go up and down! I am beginning to wonder again, if I should of even gotten this band. I thought I was at my sweet spot about 3 1/2 weeks ago and WHAM! I am right back where I was before my fill. I am seriously considering converting to RNY.

You are not alone. I have been banded since June of last year. I have only lost 50 lbs. I have had so many fills I have lost count. Last fill was to 3ccs which was about 3 weeks ago. I have no lost my fill yet again. It is so frustrating. I go back into the surgeon on Thursday to find out if my fill was lost again. I had that happen once already. I am totally disgusted with myself right now. I don't really know what to do other than try and get yet anoter fill.

Are you really hungry or is it head hunger. I'm having a real problem telling the difference. I wonder what people do to fight the head hunger. I know drink Water and excersise, but what else do other do to fight head hunger.

Just wondering.

If you eat mainly Protein, the cravings will go away. I do really good all day long, and then at night I start the cravings. I have a sugar free popsicle and then brush my teeth and chew sugar free gum. It seems to help me not

want to eat after my teeth are brushed.

calories in vs. calories out. if you're going to lose weight you gotta decrease the calories in and burn calories (out). if you're not losing weight, look to behavior changes not just the lapband. i haven't had the surgery yet but it has been ingrained into me by a psychologist, nutritionist and my surgeon that lapband is ONLY a tool.

yea, I was just reading a little bit about head hunger. That could very well be my problem. At the moment though, I am just wondering why I got a band, b/c I am still having to battle as much as I did before the band.

Please forgive my negative attitude. These are just my true feelings.

When you get more of a fill, that won't be as much of a problem. When I eat, I am so full I can't even think about eating again for a few hours. It's late at night that I have a problem, because I am not full anymore, but I don't want to eat so close to bedtime.

I can so relate with all of the postings on this thread. I was banded 02/02/07 had my 5th fill today and have lost a total of 20 lbs most of these lbs were lost post-op. I lost 1lb since my last fill 4 weeks ago. I really thought I was on my way, and had reached that "sweet spot" last month because I really had good restriction. After 1 1/2 week my restriction was no where to be found!!! I am feeling such like a loser that I can't even lose weight after a "weight loss surgery".

To add to my frustration my dr says to me today, "Well, it looks like you are going to have to work harder at this than my other patients who have the band". I literally wanted to kick him in his teeth and say no kidding genius!!! Even after my fill today I do not feel much restriction!!! UGH!!! I am soooooo frustrated....

It would make such a huge difference if they could give us a reason why we don't lose like other people. I know what you mean. I want to throw something at my dr. when he says stuff like that.

I can eat a cookie and gain 3 lbs and be perfect for weeks and lose nothing. It makes no sense.

Do you think our bodies go into a stravation mode, then it tries to keep our fat. Do you think we can have to few calories. I know calories in and calories out, but if in our caveman day maybe something was switch on so people wouldn't strave, or die when food was in short supply. Just wondering.

I truly think it's the genetics. I recently found my bio mom & my 1/2 sister. It's interesting to now see the genetics of the thing. My sis works out like crazy....and she's in good shape, but not a skinny mini, just an average woman in USA. Me....I won't be a workout fiend...3x a week so far for me...and I'm sure I'll continue to be a slow loser.

I went for my 2nd fill yesterday and my Dr. was pleased. I was shocked! I have been beating myself up for only losing about 15# since surgery, but I'd lost 3 last month... So....I figure, losing, is losing. I made an appointment with the nutritionist to exam some of my eating, to see if any changes could be made to make better use of the band. I also figure that I'll have to add some length to my workouts, cause 3x a week is about all I can schedule.

Also, I'm going in for my annual physical with my PCP, I'm hoping he'll look into other causes I might have for slow losing...since there's a family history now.

Chin up folks....really, we can't compare ourselves to the RNY or other bandsters. Losing is still losing! :) I realized yesterday while waiting at the Dr. office that I'd just gone on vacation and I still lost 3 lbs! I've NEVER had that experience! :faint:So, slow or not...Loss is loss!

Thanks for all your support during these times.

Annette

I WANT IN THE SLOW LOSER CLUB. I WAS BANDED IN JAN 2007 AND HAVE ONLY LOST 28 POUNDS. I GO IN FOR MY 4TH FILL TOMORROW. I CAN'T WAIT. I CAN STILL EAT ALOT. I HAVE BEEN MAKING BAD food CHOICES TOO. EATING FRIED FOODS AND SWEETS. BUT ITS BECAUSE THE FOOD HAD BEEN GOING DOWN SO EASY, THAT'S WHY I KNOW I NEED A FILL. 2 MONTHS AGO I COULD BARELY EAT ANYTHING. NOW NOTHING GETS STUCK. SO WISH ME LUCK:help:

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
