Anyone have single incision laproscopic surgery? Just curious, not that I am worried about having a few extra scars to keep my stretch marks company

I asked about it, but my surgeon still does four incisions. I didn't really care because I already have scaring from my gallbladder removal a few years ago and I'm not going to show my belly to anyone anyhow :)

My surgeon told me that she wanted to do a single incision surgery. I guess that means I am getting SIL? I hadn't heard of it before this post, but I did look it up after. NYU Medical Center actually advertises it (where i am having surgery) yet I guess I didn't notice. I was just excited by the prospect of only having one incision!

It was presented as an option, but I found out that the single incision is actually much larger than the largest port incision of the traditional way, so decided I'd rather have 1 small scar with 4 other even smaller scars versus one larger scar.

I just had the SILS 3 days ago, my surgeon just used the belly button scar tissue to go through so it will just look like my belly button!

I had the SILS procedure on the 7th and you can't even tell I had surgery because it's in my belly button area love it.

I think you need to be a certain BMI to be able to do SIL at least my surgeon said to me 'now that you are smaller I can do SIL'. I love it and I really think there was less pain just from comparing notes to others.

I had a single incision I didn't know it would happen that way. My doc said he would do the surgery with as few incisions as he could. It ended up that is what I woke up to. My one incision is about a 1/4 of an inch and then of course the place where the port was put in. I would not have cared either way.

My surgeon will be doing the sil on me if my liver has shrunk. She said she would go through the belly button.. But if its bigger she would have to revert to standard laprospic procedure. Hope my liver is shrunken enough lol.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
