So glad you did so well!! I'm having the single incision too. Cannot wait for Friday to get here!

Jenny,

Good luck on Friday. Dr Fielding is also my surgeon. He did a single incision. I can't say enough wonderful things about him and his entire operating team.

I was banded on Jun 8. My insurance only would cover me as an out-patient, but my incision kept bleeding, so they kept me until the next morning. Everyone was super. Most of it was a blur, and I probably wouldn't remember most of it, if I hadn't made notes. The nurses were very attentive and I felt like I was in the best of hands. When I wasn't sleeping, I watched TV. I had an IV, which assume had pain meds, so other than getting in/out of bed, I don't recall being in much pain. The literature thay gave prior to surgery stressed not waiting till being in pain to take the meds, so I took the pain med regularly for several days after I got home. When is your surgery?

The single incision I got is right on top of the belly button, some doctors do it inside the belly button though. It's small and about 2 inches or less long.

I've been in a little pain lately but nothing I can't deal with! I have no hunger and no desire to eat or drink anything i have the Protein shakes because I have to, and maybe a lil Jello at night before I take the pain killers.

Again Good Luck to those who arebeing banded soon!! and Thanks!!

Hey Adela,

for the ticker, just go to the ticker factory and create one and then add it to your signature. In your profile clikc on edit profile and on the left should be an option for edit signature. Paste the code into the box and hit save...it should be there. Same thing for the sparklee thing, just creat one at sparklee.com

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
