Am dying to get back in my kayak! But Dr told me a month til I can paddle again . Have my first post-surgical appt. with Dr on 8/3.

Haven't been hungry but OMG do I want to CHEW . Started mushies today :).

Hello All,

How are things going for you? How many fill have you received? Are you exercising? What do you eat and how much? And how is the weight loss going?

I have much more restriction after my 2nd fill (1 week ago). I was really tight at first but as the days go by it is getting better. The weight loss was very slow for me but now things have improved. I am so excited....I have meet my 1st goal of 215 as of today 10/4/09!!!!

Currently, I can only eat about 2 oz. which is equal to about 4 tbsp but I am hoping to reach 4 oz once the swelling goes down in the band. Each day it gets better. Initially, after getting the 2nd fill I could only eat 2-3 bites so I am definitely improving. I was considering a slight unfill but I will give it another week or so to see if things improve. The good news is that I am losing and I have not PB'd. But my stomach gets really tight with a slight burning feeling. It is very uncomfortable.

I have found out that eating slowly and chewing well is the way to go. If I did not do those things it would be very uncomfortable each and every time I ate. OK, so enough about me.....How are things with you all?

WE CAN DO IT!!!!:(

Congrats on meeting your first goal. I was banded on the 16th and had my first fill August 28th, 3 cc's. I did not feel any restriction from my first fill and have my next in 9 days and I am hoping to finally get some restriction. Right now I can eat anything I want and it is only will power keeping me from doing that. I'm down 28lbs since the surgery and have been at this weight for about 1.5 months. I think folks here call it bandster hell.

I exercise about 5 days a week. I've got awful knees due to abusing them playing football so i'm restricted to a bike.

Looking forward to that second fill. congrats to you and keep up the good work.

Hi everyone!

I was banded on 7/20, and have been doing pretty well since. 4 weeks post op I had a fill of 4 cc ( I have the 14cc band) and have had 3 more fills since then for a total of 8cc in my band. My Doc is pretty aggressive with the fillls, which I thank him for:) I have lost about 55 pounds. I can eat 3/4 to one cup of food and not get hungry between meals. I am walking about 30 mins a day. Feel great overall. Good to hear how you guys are doing! Keep it up:)

It's nice to hear about everyone's progress.

I was banded on July 22nd and have lost about 30ish pounds. (includig preop diet)

I was losing well enough until about 2 weeks ago. That was about the time that I began to be able to eat many more foods. Since then, I've all but stopped losing. I lost about 1/2 a pound this week and the last.

I have no fill at all yet! I had such a hard time with this LAP-BAND®, and it is still not easy to take all my pills, get enough Water in and eat regular food.

I just recently got to where I don't feel like I am choking all day long -now it is only after I eat any food of substance (not yogurt, etc...)

So, all in all, I think I should get a fill, but don't want to feel bad all the time.

I eat anywhere from 1/2 a cup to 3/4 a cup of food, and not really enough Protein.

I'm still not exercising, though. I know, I know...

Congrats to you all for losing weight!

I think I need an unfill! Things have not gotten better. I can only eat 3-4 bites of most foods without feeling discomfort. It is so frustrating! I'm happy to see the weight loss but I keep getting stuck. It is so painful!

Tonight I got stuck eating rice. The pain was in my chest and I felt as if I couldn't breathe. All I could do was pace back and forth. Finally my mouth became watery and a bunch of slim came up (sorry for the description).

So after tonight I have made the decision to get .25-.50 removed from my band. Until then eating will not be enjoyable for me.:)

I was banded on 7/16 and have lost a total of 41 lbs including the pre-op diet. I have had 3 fills for a total of 7 cc's and I still do not feel that i have hit my sweet spot. I can still consume about 2 cups of food during meals and even thought that is a lot less than what i used to eat; I was really looking forward to losing weight a little more rapidly. My surgeon thinks that I am progressing well...I suppose that I have set a different standard for myself.

Going for another fill in a few weeks. Hopefully a .5 cc will make a big difference. I do find that I don't tolerate a lot of starchy foods well without getting stuck. I try to stick to Protein as much as possible with carbs under 60 grams per day.

I love hearing about all of the successes out there. Let's keep moving...!!!

So how are you all doing??????

For me, I am 1 lb away from being out of the 200's. I haven't been this size since 2000 (before the birth of my son). I recently had my 3rd fill and I am really tight right now. Trying to decide if an unfill is needed. My exercise has increased and I do at least 5 days a week for 30-40 minutes.

I have finally realized with or without the band...the only way to be healthy with weight loss is to exercise and eat a proper nutritious diet. I took awhile for that fact to set in but I think I have it now.

Please let me know how things are going for you!

Good morning. I had my 3rd fill two weeks ago (I have a total of 9 ccs) and now feel like I have some good restriction. Lost 6 lbs in two weeks which I think is a good pace. 4 lbs away from my first goal which is to get under 300 for the first time in 4 years. Clothes are starting to fit much better and I was actually able to find something in a non big and tall section to fit so I am excited. Still feel like I need maybe 1 more cc to be at perfect fill spot. Cannot eat bread at all so I think that has been a help. I can eat weight watchers english muffins when toasted and the whole wheat ones are pretty good and filling. The challenge for me is the fullness does not get rid of the cravings so I am really focusing on controlling those because lately, all I crave is ice cream. When I do give in, I make it a weight watchers pop.

Gotta run. Take care all and keep after it.

I'm nervous about the holidays, but I think that overall I am doing very well. 51 lbs down, still 16 lbs to go to be under 300. I have family coming for Christmas and I would love to say "I've lost 70 lbs since July!"...but it might only be 60.

Ive had numerous fills and am up to 7.7 cc's in a 10cc band. I won't get another fill until after the first of the year though.

Congrats to all!!!

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
