I can't believe this band is even inside me.....I can't feel a thing and I have such minimal discomfort I hardly believe they did the surgery. Just wanted to join in on the boards and find out how other's people first day experiences are.

Mine was very much like yours. I felt a little more sore on day 2 but not bad and by day 3 felt "normal"! Glad you too are having an easy time! Just stick to your post op diet so the band can heal in place properly and you'll be set!

Congratulations! I had a very easy time too. Just a word of warning: You may feel so good that you accidently overdo it. About two weeks after I was banded, I had a couple of days where I didn't feel 100% well (tired, sore at incisions). It only lasted a day or two, but I looked back and realized that I was exercising a little too vigorously. Wasn't doing anything other than walking, but I was walking about an hour and my doc;s nurse said that my abdominal muscles were being a little too strained and to cut back some. That did the trick.

Good luck!

I had mine on the 20th yesterday.. and I am in so much pain. I had an hiatal hernia which he had to fix... I wonder if its because of this? My whole chest hurts..

Felkatz,

The chest pain is from the anesthesia. I have it near my collar bone/shoulder area. It's not all that bad. What type of band did you get? I woke up with Realize Band. I had no preference but I do like their website. Are you on Clear liquids for this week?

I do hope you feel better. I also was banded on 7/20 so we can go through this battle together!

I was banded yesterday (july 20) as well. I am uncomfortable and its hard to sit down and stand up again. But its not too bad and surprisingly I have NO gas pain at all. In the hospital I had left shoulder pain for mmm maybe an hour or so and it just went away on its own. The only thing i'm dealing with now is just the swelling where my port was placed and my incesions are a little tender. otherwise I have no problems swallowing or getting my liquids in. Just like normal! Good luck to you all!!

To help those with discomfort. I had very little pain, but I am a side-sleeper and felt a swollen-type of pressure when I laid on my side. I found that hugging a pillow and kind of "tucking" it under me, helped to support my tummy area and I was able to sleep really well. Good luck all!

Welcome! And, congratulations on your surgery! Mine went really well, too -- I just had that nagging shoulder pain afterwards, and that was the worst part (the pain was no where near as bad as I thought it would be)!

I hope all continues to go really well for you! You are in for some exciting positive changes.

My first day was easy-schmeasy. I've had many surgeries in the past, but this was my first laproscopic surgery and I was just amazed and how better I felt in comparison!

Day 2 was rough, a little more sore but had some nausea and dry heaving. From then it could only get better. I stopped taking the narcotic pain meds this day. My incisions never really gave me much pain, but the gas pain in my shoulder was absolutely horrible for about 5 days. I just walked as much as I could so it would slowly go away.

Good luck to you

I was banded on 7/7...I am already eating solids (although I'm not sure how normal that is) but at my first fill I know that will change... Good luck to you!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
