Dr. Monte Schwartz - Hello From Sierra Vista, AZ

Recommended Posts

I'm all for getting together, whether we have a formal support group or not. I do work though, so if ya'll decide to meet during the day, I won't be able to attend. But.. since some of you are stay at home moms, it's probably a lot easier for you to meet during the day. Either way, I understand.

I'm actually cursed with a double whammy! Not only do I work but I'm also a single mom. Can't meet in the day and have no dad to hand Tadpole to.

However, I'm sure I could talk a friend into sitting with Tadpole for a hour or two in the evening.

This does prompt a question for me. Are our secret identities safe? I have not, nor do I plan to, tell anyone that I am doing this! I don't want to deal with all the negative comments that so many people have about WLS!

anything said in the meeting will be kept there and no one will ever know. i think that having a support group is great and what ever we can do to have it we will do. and if you have to bring your little one with you. most of us are moms and we will dif understand!!!!!!!!! start leting me know what days and time work for everyone and pm me your emails and numbers so we can get this thing going. i also have an apt on the 2nd so i will be talking to the staff about this as well.

LOL at Tadpole! Took me a minute to figure that out, but it's too cute. Like you, I don't want anyone to know I've had the surgery. It's not my place to discuss anyone else's personal business, so I expect the same in return.

Still chuckling over Tadpole....

You all are great to try and work around me. I talked with my friend and she will keep Tadpole for me on "meeting" night.

We have a prior commitment on Tuesday nights...otherwise, any night is good for me.

That is awesome. My philosophy in life is "it's not my information to share"...so no worries here!

I had Dr. Schwartz and he is a great surgeon. He is very dry, but seems to be developing a more out-going personality. I have nothing but high praise for the staff. I am from Green Valley where a support group is forming from his office. Can't wait for that to happen.

I know this thread us ok'd, ut I am wondering if anyone is stil around? I am currently at Ft. Huachucaa and will have surgery with Dr.Schwartz. I was wondering if he dies the surgery in a hospital or at his center? Also, how is everyone doing with their band post op?

I was scheduled to be banded by Dr Schwartz on Dec 20th but he has decided to leave town and didn't bother to tell me he had cancelled my surgery I found out when I called to see about scheduling my pre op appointment and was told that even though he was going to be there till Jan 1st he had opted to not do anymore surgeries and had referred his patients to Dr Monash I called them right away and got in that week and lucky for me they were able to keep my surgery date and I have to say working with them is light years better than working with Dr Schwartz's office I really feel I was so lucky to have Dr Schwartz decide to not do any more surgeries.I could not be happier with my change in doctors.I feel a lot more comfortable with my new Dr you may ask why I did change sooner the answer is I really did not want to have to start all over again and I wasn't sure they would not make me as it turns out they would not have but just the same Iam delighted to be where Iam now.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
