Don't know where to start

Recommended Posts

I got my lapband about 3 years ago and lost 70 pounds the 1st year. I was still overweight about 60 pounds but I was happy with myself after the 70 pound weight loss and have been maintaining the same weight for the last 2 years with no band complications what so ever. Now, I want to start losing weight again but I don't know where to start. I thought about a fill but I really don't think I need one. Where do I start. If anyone has any information or advice I would appreciate the help.

I think if i were you I would get an appointment with the dietician and with the lapband dr and start from the beginning.

I think the best advise would come from your doctor. I certainly admire your positive attitude in spite of a two-year plateau. I wish you much success.

Thank you so much for the information. I appreciate all the help I can get. I'll try to keep a good attitude and charge ahead to the next 60 pounds.

I agree, touching base with your doc again is a good start.

And... really.... just get back with the program, whatever routine it is that your doctor has you follow. If you measured and weighed and that helps you, go back to it, restart an exercise program if you're not doing that, all the normal stuff you would ordinarily do to lose weight.

Unfortunately, after you've had the band for some years I dont think its AS easy but i still find that the lost weight remains lost for me. I may have to battle for a pound or two these days but I dont regain it.

When you're doing all that you should be, then you can really decide if a fill is necessary or not.

When I need to get the scale moving again I go on the plateau buster's diet - which is basically just going back to the lapband "rules". Protein, veggies, then carbs. I started back on it on Monday after some weight gain (8 lbs) and I've already lost 4 lbs. If you'd like I can send you the guidelines.

Is this similar to the 5 day pouch test?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
