Group- 5 day Pouch Test

Recommended Posts

Thankyou to everyone for all your support while I did this 5dpt. It was really hard and discouraging too. But so many people cheered me on. Guess what? I got on the scale this morning and lost five pounds! Thanks again for all your help. I really don't know if I would've stuck with this if not for all of your help.

Wow....this thread is so encouraging! I am reading this at 9a.m. and I have decided to try this 5day pouch test today because all of you have done so well. I tried it last week and never made it through day 1. I really need this since I have not lost a pound since June 4th. So here I go again....thanks group! I will keep you posted.

Im starting today too. I am giving myself a jump start. I've done the 5DPT before and I know that I will lose weight but what I really want is to regain restriction. Im on the march toward Onederland and restriction is going to help speed that walk to a run. Good Luck everyone!

Thanks Gone 4 Ever.....I will check that out. My favorite Breakfast Protein Shake is a cup of fr.vanilla coffee, splenda, 1tbs. of vanilla Creamer, 5 icecubes, and a scoop of vanilla Protein in the blender. You get your morning coffee with some protein with a shot of energy.

Good luck everybody. You CAN do it. It will be hard, at least the first 2 days. But you just have to get through those two days. After that, the rest isn't nearly as hard. Go check out those Protein Shake recipes. They are great and really helpful. I got restriction back but have determined that I need a tiny fill. I get hungry an hour after I've eaten good, stay in the pouch Protein. Hopefully that won't be the case for you. At least I know now for sure.

You gyes are AWESOME!!!!!

As for me I have gained 1 lb after being so lose to the 2 teens. This morning I was going to go ot the Protien PT and by lunch time I had totally failed! Sometimes I feel so week, I hope you all had a better day one than me. My well meaning husband didnt help any as he came home with KFC in the bag! I couldnt resist! I called my fill dr and scheduled an fill for thursday. SOOOO If I can make it on tuesday and wednesday , then I will finally get some help on thursday. I HOPE I AM NOT EXPECTING TOO MUCH of the band but my fil is only up to 1.5 cc in a 4 cc band and there HAS TO BE more help than this to look forward to! I have been trying to be Band Sensitive but the carb MONSTER just keeps biting me, or should I say I am biting it! LOL  AUGH!

OK, WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!

You can do it. When I didn't think I could get through the first 2 days, everybody cheered me on and believed in me when even I didn't know if I could stick with it. I even gained 2 pounds the first day! But I will tell you what they told me. YOU CAN DO IT ! Yes the first 2 days are so incredibly hard. Just break it up into sections. Tell yourself you will just get to 10 o'clock. Then have some pudding or Jello. Then say, "I've made it this far. I will try to get to lunch." Then the long afternoon looms ahead. Drink Water. Eat cream Soups or chocolate sugar free pudding. Before you know it it is dinnertime. Well, you've gone this far. You can make it throught the first day. You see what I'm saying? Then for the second day remind yourself that you did it yesterday, you only have to get throught today. One more day. I'm telling you it was crazy hard for me but by the next day I could fill restriction like I hadn't had in a few months. Granted, I'm hungry an hour and a half after I ate my turkey chili, which usually stays with me for hours. But I do know now that I need a fill. Sometimes I think I need a fill when I have just stretched my pouch. As far as the carb monster, I am still fighting him. I thought that the 5day pouch test would have rid that evil monster. I know that eventually it will pass but it hasn't yet. So I am chewing a lot of gum. I am drinking chocolate Protein Shakes with some Peanut Butter blended in. Maybe other bandsters have ideas how to deal with this difficult time until you get a fill. They sure have saved me a few times. Anyway, good luck. You can do it. Keep me posted.

Hi all! I am currently on day 2 of the 5dpt. So far so good. I have really stalled within the last few months with weight loss, but I have increased my exercise so much that I am actually losing inches. I just felt that if I kicked started myself then I can get these last 20 lbs. off and get losing again.

Slimmap, I've been thinking that all along, thanks for great pointers. I can make it through today I know I can. I am now drinking my green iced tea and thinking about the next shake or Soup I will have later. It actually hasn't been as difficult as I thought. I am hoping by the end of the week I will see the results on the scale as well with my band and how I eat.

Slimmap...you gave really good advise. You aught to be proud of yourself.

Thanks. Even though I have completed the 5dpt, and have shrunk my pouch, I am still struggling. I seriously need a fill but can't get one for 2 weeks! I am going to have to try to follow my own advice again. But this time it will be even more difficult because I have to try not to gain any weight for 14 days! We all have to hang in there. Thanks again to everybody.

I am on day 2 of the 5dpt. So far so good, the only problem is, is that I have had this nagging headache since I have cut the carbs out. I've tried to get it to go away but no luck it's still there. I guess I didn't realize just how many carbs I was eating until I gave them up. I guess it's a good thing. I needed an awakening to get myself back on track. I am not looking to lose much more weight but I would LOVE to have that feeling of my pouch back. Good luck to all of you, we are all in this togather and we will succeed!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
