Shrinking Violets Part 4

"Kris is a bridesmaid in a wedding this weekend and she's helping with things today, plus getting the food for the rehearsal dinner. The groom's parents don't have much money so Kris offered to provide the pizzas and other things for the meal. She's such a sweetheart."

She gets that from her mother! :cool2:

Awww, thanks, Roomie!!

Grady is finally laying down for a snooze. He was supposed to go to sleep at 3 for two hours, but only made it a half hour. I'm hoping this snooze will be a bit longer.

We just had a storm come through yet again. Strong winds and rain, but now the sun is shining again even though I hear thunder in the distance. 72 degrees. Certainly isn't a typical summer.

I tried to eat left over kabobs for lunch, but they wouldn't go down. I ended up having a little of the potato salad I made. It was yummy. My mom used to love potato salad. This batch would have made her very happy.

Off to watch NCIS and then figure out what's for dinner. We can't go out as we have Grady until 8. I'm thinking Bob might make a run to Taco Bell for some fast food.

Yeah, stuff like that makes us on the coast very nervous with hurricane season upon us! :cool2:

Hi there~

Tomorrow we are going to have a bbq at my sisters house. My youngest nephew is going into the marine corps and he leaves Sunday. I also have a neice (and her baby)that are moving to South Carolina next week because her husband is in the marine corp and she is going to be with him. I am going to miss all of them but I guess letting go is part of life. It is easy to take because I know it is the best move for all of them.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Tracy ((hugs))

Jenn-I hope you had/are having fun!

Heya girls!

Crazy day at work. Had a patient call and tell us he was bringing a guy in with something in his eye---so I set up a tray and room for a foreign body removal--kinda excited, I like the gory stuff! He gets there, and he has part of a tree sticking out of his head! He had a small limb, large twig, whatever---embedded in his eye socket! But it had not penetrated the eye ball itself, but was holding it open, and was beyond wierd looking! He was walking with a metal detector trying to find his septic lines, and walked into a tree limb! Our office is around the corner from the hospital, so we sent him with the Dr. to the ER!

Then we are behind schedule, so this afternoon a regular patient comes in and she says she began seeing flashes of light, and dark spots, and now it is black mostly like a page has been turned down on her vision. Sure enough she has a detaching retina. The Dr. is telling her how it is good she come right in, as the quicker it is caught the better the reattachment success is. Then she tells us, well it happen this morning, but I had women coming for bridge, and finally it began bugging me so bad I had to tell them and quit, and they insisted I come in. HELLO??? where is your brain???? That threw us further behind. I was supposed to be off at 2, and it was actually 4!

Rick is still not home tho, so it could be worse.

Back when my DD was married to the E-tech at Rick's place of work, he told us to avoid their direct deposit, that he is always hearing of them ripping people off. So we had always relied on paper checks---in person. Well that is no longer an option, it is direct deposit, or the debit card. So we went with direct deposit. I log on to the bank account this morning to check if it hit....and there was a part of his check......they paid him for 21 hours. He worked 41 and then had a 40 hour week of vacation.....but they only paid him for 21......why? no one knows yet, it is being looked into to see where the problem is, but it will likely just come in on his next check. BS direct deposit the right amount----we are expecting 80+ hours and got 21......I have managed to stay out of the savings for months now....for this! GRRRRR

Guess I will go find something to make for dinner. Was hoping Rick would get home in time to go out, but that is looking less and less likely....waaaaah!

See y'all in a while....yeah there is a space there--you know what a while is!!! Just longer than a bit!

Our summer has been unusually cool too... global warming?!

I am gassy and tummy upset, and for once in his life Russ won't put his dang headphones on so I can rip em and blame it on the dog.

Just put Carson down for the night.

Haydee I'm so excited for you, when we planned last minute to do the wedding I had JUST missed the bridal fair, I have friends who model in it, they sound like a blast, I know you're going to have SO MUCH FUN!! Make sure to send me plenty o' pics.

Yup.. global warming. The polar ice cap is melting at an extreme rate and that warms the oceans which alters the current system in the Atlantic ocean. Even one degree of difference will cause some places to get arid, some to get colder, some warmer and some islands in the pacific will disappear. It has nothing to do with the day to day temperatures.

Grady has gone for the day, but I'll have him for during the wedding tomorrow. Then we head to a cook out at friends. He was pretty good today. Just had one crying jag when he got overtired. He finally took a two hour nap and that was appreciated! He loves to sit on my lap outside so we did that for a long time today.

Off to bed soon. I didn't get to sleep until 2 this morning and don't want to do that again.

Everyone have a good evening. Sleep well.

Hey girlies~

The movie, The Orphan, was AWESOME! Not only did I really enjoy it, I recommend it (for those who like those kind of movies). Not cheesy, great story, shocking ending...VERY GOOD!

Then we went swimming for 2 hours, then went to eat (Jenny was with us all day). Had fun!

Everyone have a great weekend!

Good evening.

Laura, I think I will try to send it to you. Thanks!!!

I still think it is soo funny.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

I talked to the mailman today about your koozie Tracy, and he said normally it takes 2 to 3 weeks, but since it was out of town, and in the summer (vacations), it might take longer. So I will give it another week or two.

When do the kids (Michelle, Jennifer, Tracyk, Tracyks) start back to school, what about you Pamela?

I can't believe I am even saying that. School here never started til after labor day, but this year Webster has changed it to three weeks before. So our school year is a little messed up this year, with school going into June and starting in mid August. Next year will be better because they will end in May.

I think I am rambling again!!

Good morning, Violets..

Another ton of rain last night. I don't have to Water any of my plants today. I see a hint of the sun, but it's 64 degrees and only supposed to get up to 70 today. No heater in the pool yet so it sits there unusable. The pool guys are involved in fishing during the Brown Trout festival here so they won't be out until next week sometime... hopefully!!

Grady comes at noon for a couple of hours while his mom and dad go to a wedding. Then he's going to his other gramma and grampa during the reception while Bob and I go out to a cook out.

Not much else on the agenda.

I have a new grandpup. DS Josh and family got a dog from the humane society. He's part boxer, part terrier and is named Charlie Brown Case. He was taken from his owner because he was being beaten, so he's scared of loud noises, but is very good with the kids and they just love him.

Off to fix my Breakfast. Everyone have a great day and be good to yourselves.

Good morning everyone

I am back, got back late Thursday and yesterday was just crazy

Tracyks- i'm so sorry for what you are dealing with

Tracyk -i am up 3lbs after this week and i don't know why, i hardly ate anything and walked everywhere. I am getting ready for my big walk before it gets too hot, and Monday i'm heading back to the gym.

I had a great time, had 1 really nice beach day, went shopping, lunch, gamble, got a new tattoo... left with $400 and came home with $400 after doing all that so I am very pleased. I am using my money to take my dd and her friend (7 of us total) to dinner on Friday night for her birthday, which i was going to do, but is going to be $250 easy so now it is paid for... nice.

i'll get pics of my new tattoo later and post them, it is on the back of my neck and is a moom and stars

ok i'm off to get ready for my day, going to do something productive.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
