Shrinking Violets Part 4

Recommended Posts

Good evening, Violets.

It feels sooooooooooo good to be home finally!! We picked up the grandkids and brought them here today. Kris and Nathan took them to their house for the evening. They'll be back here for the day tomorrow and then a cook out in the evening. My pool is a mess. The furnace was leaking Water and the water level in the pool is way down. The heat exchanger was supposed to have been fixed, but it isn't and the pump hasn't been on in a week. Bob is going to the pool place first thing in the morning. If they kids don't get to use the pool the next few days, I'm going to be really upset.

Tomorrow I'm taking "before" pics and will update them each month. I did that when I first got the band, but stopped after a year.

I read an article about Chaz Bono and it said she was going to have the lap band surgery. The article said that it was very risky surgery and that 88% of people had complications. WHAT??? Course that was a doctor the Nation Enquirer interviewed.

Jane.. hope you got your Cpap part.

Fred Travelena died?? I didn't know that... just heard about Karl Malden. Gale Storm is the lady from the 50's that died. So we have had 7 die in the last couple of weeks. YIKES!!

I'm going to get some laundry in and get ready for bed. It was a long day today.

Everyone sleep well! PamELA.. we'll miss you and can't wait for you to get back safe and sound and tell us all about your trip!!

OK back again. The doctor said he never thought about flying and fills, but said it made sense...and then thought about another patient who traveled abroad alot...and who also has trouble when flying. He said the air pressure could effect the band. He thought it could be a great article in the Lapband World. Also, we talked about when I flew to Reno or Phoenix, I did not notice it. But flying longer distances did. Anywho...that is the story.

I already made an appointment for the 16th to get my fill back. And...the best part...I had lost 5 pounds since May 7th, when I had the fill! Pretty good for all the margies. I blame the workouts though.

Ok ladies...I LOVE YOU ALL AND WILL MISS YOU TERRIBLY.

Tracy, if you could send me emails blurbs about Big Brother. Just short blurbs about who we love, who we hate...etc. I hate that I am missing the first episodes.

Laura, tell Carson not to grow too much...I like his little body as is.

Everyone good luck on your -5 challenge.

I'll post the minute I walk in!

LOVELOVELOVE YOU VIOLETS!

xoxo

bye pammy! we will miss you! Have so much fun and don't get too hot!

The pain I was having is almost gone now. Just a little sore when I breathe deep. But the restriction is still there. I'm super tight and only able to get down liquids. Last night I made a roast with gravy for Juan and when I tried a bite to taste it I was in so much pain. I know this isn't the way the band is supposed to work but I'm oh so happy with the restriction. I'm so happy that my band is not letting me eat, LOL. I'm gonna just have to make sure I'm getting my Protein in like when I first started. I'll have to buy those Protein Shots or something...

We're going venue shopping tomorrow! I've got three appointments at three different venues so that we can take a look at them. I'm in love love love with the one I had booked the first time around but it's so so expensive that I can't see myself spending that much money. I always swore I wouldn't be "one of those" brides that blows through everything for a party. But I'm really really liking it. :tongue2:

Pamela

have a fantastic time and birthday !

Morning gals

raining again today, i just mowed on Sunday and has to be done again already, i don't know how the pool is up to 82 with all this rain. Painted the bathroom around the tub yesterday so i can start tiling today. I'm going to finish painting on Monday, but the tiles are the most time consuming thing at this point. I got tanish tiles with a mossy green paint. My friend has a very bad back and has been painting and pushed herself, so i told her i would come help this afternoon, i won't be able to do much here until the tiles are set, so why not.

I went to my dr yesterday, my bp is high for me. 125/80 so she increased my Water pill, which i told her I could tell was not working, so we will see. I was kind of put off when I said that the lexapro just made me sleep and gain weight... she said it will make you gain weight... I thought WTF???? right... she knows what i've been through the last 2 years, why would you give me something to make me gain weight? So, now i'm on welburtun (SP), which i have to take in the morning and has been known to help people lose weight as a bonus... not guaranteed but will not gain from it, so that is all that matters.

Haydee - ok, where is it that I would fly into next May for your wedding? I'm going to plan a vacation around that and pump myself up. I did love TX so very much. I have to mentally prepare myself for a year and i'll be good to go!

I'm going to try to get onto Facebook and look at pics... Laura did you do a photobucket link?

Jenn - I'm in Houston! We are actually in a little suburb just north of Houston called The Woodlands, TX. But you fly into Houston... But the wedding and the church and everything is in the woodlands.

Jane - Ugh, I can't believe after all that waiting that it was the wrong friggin part. I would have been livid! I'm not patient at all all...

What's everyone up to this holiday weekend? I've got some appointments scheduled but other than that I'm gonna try to catch up on my housework and laundry, chill by the pool and we will BBQ and go see fireworks on saturday. We originally had requested hot dogs and hamburgers from my dad for Saturday but then he vetoed us and he is grilling fajitas and all the fixings... YUM, that'll work for me, LOL!

Hey girls, been a crappy couple of days---mainly yesterday. Hoping today will be an improvement. I almost walked out on my job yesterday.

A man come in, told the office manager and I he was a new patient, and needed to be seen for an eye injury---which for malpractice reasons, even if you have 200 appointments has to be seen right then. So I built him a file, made a copy of his employee ID and approved his insurance, passed him on. Went in to assist with his appointment (which was part of MY job, where the other was not)and when we got in the exam room, he tells the Dr. he had seen him before. So I go look, and sure enough from 05 he was a patient. So I combined the files, went in, and we dealt with his eye. 3 hours later, after the office manager had looked over the combining of the files, and the billing clerk (NEW) had had the file, she comes to me and chews my ass for not getting the employee ID. I DID! She give me the silent treatment, acting like I was an idiot, and bitching non stop over how they cannot bill without the ID#. When I was filing another file, I found it between other files. Files that were there for billing, having not been anything I had dealt with, it happen on THEIR desk--------nothing was said. I almost walked. The ONLY thing that made me stay was word from Rick at noon that they are now talking about sending him to Wyoming.......so I spent the night back and forth between upset and pissed.

Not great company, even here!

Pamela, sorry I missed your send off, hope you are on your way to a wonderful vacation. Hugs!!!

Will do my best to catch up with y'all tonight. My brother come in in the middle of my rant, and now I am out of time........just another grrrrrrr to my grrrrrrr day!!! LOL

Hugs

Took dd for her 6-mo teeth cleaning & they ended up extracting 2 of her baby teeth that weren't moving out for her permanent teeth that are trying to come in, so the left side of her mouth was a big mess, inflamed, infected, swollen... blech! Not the way we thought that the morning would go!! Poor baby.

But... yesterday I took her to get a permanent pink stripe in her hair, so it all balances out, I guess! She looks so cute & trendy. I'm such a cool mom (if I do say so myself!). I think she's liking this "only child" situation.

But... we go pick up DS from camp this afternoon. Then he'll go to jazz band camp from Sunday - next Friday, so DD will be an "only" again!

Make it a good day!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
