July 2009 Dates

Recommended Posts

Wow! It's been a long time for me.

I have lost a little over 50 pounds (53.5 as of today), but I have been hovering here for about 3 months. I have been living life, doing all right as far as exercise, but not being as vigilant as I should be on the food side. I just love sugar too much!

In the past couple of weeks, I have started boot camp in addition to the running I took up a couple of months ago, and I think that's why I am seeing the scale move just a bit again. I knew I was going to have to blast that weight off!

Anyway, I am thankful that the weight is moving a bit. I want to be successful, but to me that means living a normal life. It means eating like a normal person, sugar and all. Of course, for me, sugar will always require special attention. But I am not going to stop eating it completely or stop fighting it. I think I will always have to really work at the sugar thing. So, I won't make my goal within one year, but I will be working toward it, and I'm ok with it. I always try to remind myself that this is a marathon, not a sprint.

Hope all you July bandsters are doing well. Please update so we can see how you're doing!

I'll do a quick check in too since we are a little past the 10 month mark.

I've lost 78 pounds since my pre-op diet. I admit I've been terrible about exercise but do try to stick to the bandster rules. If it ever warms up here, I might venture outside and walk.

I'm not the speediest loser, but I feel like the choices I'm making are sustainable and I will continue to lose.

I did have my first (and only) gall bladder attack on April 6. I was able to see the surgeon on the 7th and was in the OR on the 8th. I wasn't about to have another GB attack. Since surgery my weight loss has been great. Not sure what has revved me up, but I'll take it.

We all need to check in in two months on our Bandiversaries.

hi all

i am down 83lbs, i was banded on 7/23. im happy with the loss so far but i know it would be alot better if i was more firm on myself. i exercise great but i do eat 'bad" things more often than i should.

i set a goal for myself to lose 100lbs my 1st year & i still think i will meet that. i think its great that some of you have already lost 100lbs. i can't wait to join the club.

Checking to see if any of you have this sort of same scenario:

I have been banded since July 24, 2009 and have been very satified with my progress, my weight loss has not been dramatic but I did only weigh 229 (at 5'1) when first weighed on 6/6/09. That is alot for a little frame. I was in a size 18, I am happy to report I am now in a size 12 at 186lbs. It seems to me I have lost more inches than weight, does anyone feel this way?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
