How many with band are using diet aides like appetite suppressants, Alli, Slim Shots... with the band? Especially before hitting your "sweet spot".

I haven't done any, but I asked my surgeon about using Alli before I hit my sweet spot and he said the didn't see a problem with it. Just as long as I used it as directed on the bottle and still ate healthy foods.

I didn't but mostly because I don't think they really work. Ally---if you have too much fat it comes out the back end whether you want it to or not. That is just gross. Diet suppressants...been there, done that, got me to the lovely 405 pounds I was at my initial consult. Slim shots...I think if OTC stuff worked our nation would have so many overweight/obese people. So no. I'm not against help but I don't think that stuff does it. If I did, I wouldn't have gotten the band.

Ive been told not to diet or count calories because it would seem as if the band was working for me when it really isnt. Just another thought.

You know this may work for some but it sure didn't for me. I TRIED! I will admit I didn't get restriction until fill #7 on May 7 (lucky seven? LOL) but I'm losing because I am in "diet" mode. Otherwise I could graze all the time. I'm not counting calories but like I said, I'm in the "mode"...not buying foods high in fat/calories (like chips, candy) and so on. That "make healthy choices" thing is subjective. What's the healthy choice when you have only high fat/high calorie things to choose from? It's a dilemma.

I'm hoping, now that I have restriction, once I get a routine/habit going I can let up a little. For now, though, I have to watch it like a hawk or I stop losing. I can't eat a lot at once, but I sure can graze through a good chunk of calories if I don't watch myself really closely!

So monitoring "am I hungry or just bored/sad/tired" and so on, while isn't strictly dieting/calorie counting, is important for some of us. And remember that "healthy choice" thing starts way before the food ever gets to the dinner table.

To me, that's "dieting". Hopefully it will become "normal life" sometime! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
