I was told the same thing, but I am tempted to put something on them to help with scarring. I had staples and then at my post op they pulled them out then put steri strips on but they have since fallen off. So now what????

I started putting antibiotic stuff on mine because the skin glue came off and the incisions were red and itchy! I'd wake up in the middle of the night scratching, so I figured the cream was better than scratching. It has helped somewhat, but they are still kind of red-ish and still itch.

I have my post-op this Thursday (over 2 weeks out, not sure of the point now ) and I'm planning on asking then.

I've resorted to hydrocortisone cream, because mine are swollen all around the incisions and VERY itchy. It almost looks like I'm having some kind of an allergic reaction. *sigh* If it's not one thing, it's another lol!

Hey all - are any of you having any clear ooze coming from your incisions? My port incision isn't painful, isn't red, had some of the skin glue flake off, and there's some clear pinkish Fluid leaking out now and again. I had a friend who is a nurse take a quick peek at it yesterday and she said it's all good (and that draining the goo inside is good, as long as it's not smelly yellow pus...), but just wanted to bounce it off of my fellow Banditos.

This is what mine look like right now:

allergic.th.jpg

The big purplish one on the left is the one that got infected. Those two little bitty ones up on the very top are from my gallbaldder surgery in Feb. There's still some bruising obviously. But see how they're all swollen and red? They itch like crazy and I have no idea what's going on! All 5 of them look like that.

My husband makes fun of the one on the bottom. He says it looks like the :/ face lol.

ETA: this is 11 days post op, surgery was on 5/8

GR, ouch!!!!

I've always heard that itching is a good sign because it means that you're healing.

But, again, ouch!

Back from the Dr's office. He said it's an allergic reaction to the steri-strips. Apparently it'll go away eventually.

That's what I was going to say too, GR. I have that same sensitivity to adhesives. I've heard it's pretty common. Sorry that you're itchy and such. But hey, lookin' really GOOD for only being 11 days post. It looks like your scars may end up being thin lines that blend well with your skin. Here's hopin', eh? ;-)

You've come a long way, girl!

After stretch marks from six pregnancies, I'm not worried about a few incision scars, lol!

The itchy isn't so bad as long as I keep hydrocortisone on them, but if I forget, or kinda rub them with my shirt without thinking, they itch like crazy.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...
