Confessions of diet infractions here...

Recommended Posts

OK! I ate a chocolate chip cookie last night. :frown: After not having anything sweet for so long- it really didn't taste that great. It certainly didn't feel as good as it does when you get on the scale and see a NEW, lower number. My reward to myself for confessing to you all is an extra 5 minutes on the treadmill today.

My bad experience is that I thought I was doing so well that I could have a bite of a hot dog bun. BIG MISTAKE! About an hour later I was miserable. If I hadn't read/heard all the horror stories about things getting stuck, I would've thought I was having a heart attack. It was AWFUL, everything everyone says and worse! OMG, it was just miserable. The bad time lasted about 30-40 minutes. I went for a walk and that seemed to help. I pray that I never experience that again.

I had a piece of birthday cake about a 1.5 inch piece maybe 2 inch piece...... and a couple spoons of blueberry clobber but figured hey it's my birthday....

that's the least of my issues not sure if the sugar caused it but I've been hungry since I got home from work...trying to maintain but made chillie for dinner did ok then had a pudding up and a fudgecicle all SF but still....

Forgive me father, for I have sinned...

I had a piece of cake at a potluck at work on May 5.

I had a couple ritz crackers a few days after that.

I also had a piece of garlic bread last night with dinner.

It's funny because up until I was cleared to eat normal foods again I was absolutely APPALLED at people who cheated on their diets. Now I get it. Sorry for judging

Joe:

It is your birthday! So if you're going to cheat today is a perfect day to do it. You will get back on track tomorrow. I was just banded on 5-5-09 and boy do I wish I could have a pretzel, fish, ANYTHING right now. I am SO hungry and it is so hard for me to get my Protein in. I HATE THESE Protein DRINKS! I AM IN BANDSTERS HELL AND I AM LOSING MY MIND!! SORRY FOR RANTING!:)

You gotta give yourself a little something onece in a while, this tool is a band not a ban. I know the docs and nutritionist have said to lose the weight we need to.....

Smart choices and protion control are key but cake on your birthday or a drink with an out of town guest shouldn't cause so much guilt.

But after so long with no sugar I think that little piece of cake messed with my body by the time I got home I had the shakes never felt like that even when extremely hungry, was so tired I took a nap right after dinner and couldn't feel satisfied food wise all night.. didn't do to bad but kept wanting something...probably more sugar....

I had a cookie and some peanut m&ms today. No more restriction! Bleh! Plus, I noted that I was doing that head hunger thing when I should have been full. Anyway, one hour after I ate the sweet stuff, I got this tremendous headache!!!! Then I realized that I haven't had a headache since BEFORE my surgery...I haven't had sugar since BEFORE my surgery!!!! Holy moley, I just figured something out...sugar is BAD for me!!!!!!!

Guess I won't do that again any time soon.....

OK, I broke! I went on a rampage and I am so ashamed. Today I licked a pork chop, sucked on a peppermint, and sucked the salt off of two pretzels. I know I am a bad, bad girl and I should be punished. You gotta understand I am on liquids and I can only have Water and Protein Drinks. NOTHING ELSE! I have a doctor's visit tomorrow and I will confess to him as well.

Congrats JayTee on your bday! You are absolutely right in that our tool is the band not a BAN! I LOVE that play on words!

Raelita, I may be way off the mark and misread your post but what you said scares me. How is licking a pork chop, sucking on salt from a pretzel and sucking on a peppermint make you a bad bad girl that needs to be punished? That makes no sense to me. I don't mind confessing my diet infractions here so that people can see what we all struggle with, but asking to be punished over something like that seems a little harsh...and I'm sure you don't mean it, but almost like it pokes fun at us. I don't think any of us need to be punished. I know that for me, I will have good days and bad days. Yesterday was not a great day, but that's okay. We are all learning to use our new tool. There is no way we will all be perfect 100% of the time. Plus, I worry about setting up the doctor for being your confessional so that he can lecture you or something. This is YOUR tool, this is YOUR body, this is YOUR weight loss experience. Don't let anyone else control that for you.

That's just my two cents and I don't want to be offensive or anything.

LMAO! This was good, Raelita! Licking a pork chop....you are hilarious! Hey, at least you didn't BITE it! :crying:

I too have been on Clear liquids for 11 days. Believe it or not, I still have no appetite, and am feeling no hunger, but I am feeling this NEED to chew on something. Last night, I was tired and crabby, and when I made my last Protein shake in the blender, I tossed in 8 chocolate chips. Don't know why....certainly didn't give me any chewing satisfaction or any other kind for that matter....but I figure if that's the worst thing I've done post-op, I'm okay.

Happy Birthday, JayTee!!

I've tried really hard to be good, but I will confess that I've gone off of the diet I've planned for myself several times. The important thing I tell myself when I've been "bad" is that I'm not eating as much of the bad things as I would've pre-op, and I'm making better choices when I do choose to go off the path to righteousness. :))

For example, I went to a buffet at a casino last weekend, but I took a 1/4 of the portions of everything that I would've normally taken. I ate very slow with small bites, and I didn't have seconds or thirds. It's a new way of living/eating...not a DIET for the rest of my life. We shouldn't deprive ourselves... that's how I look at it.

We're all doing GREAT!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
