Hi everyone! How are your fills going? How often do you need to go back? How do you feel right afterwards and a few days afterwards?

My doctor only puts in about .7 each time so I am already on my third fill (I have 2.4 in a 10cc band)

My first two fills were great for the first day, maybe two, but after a few days it was like they never happened! So I have gone in every two and a half to three weeks.

This most recent one (three days ago) really has me feeling some good restriction - for the first time since the initial swelling I actually feel like I have a lap band! So hopefully I can get a good couple of weeks out of this one!

How about you??

My doctor is much more aggressive than yours. I too have a 10cc band and had surgery 1-27. First fill was 3-11 was 3 ccs and second fill on 4/22 was 2 ccs. I had good restriction for only about a week after each fill. I think it's cause I'm losing quite fast and the fat pad is decreasing quickly. But I've not had any problems with pb'g or being stuck or sliming or anything. Linda

My fills are going just fine as well. I have gotten three fills so far and on the last time I too was great for one week and then nothing. I go back next week for fill number four. I think I am up to like 6cc now in a size 12 band. I have not had any trouble with any of my fills so far. I hope this continues and maybe have more restricion then just the one week.

I just got my third fill on Monday. I have good restriction and have been having a lot of trouble with eating. I need to slow way down and chew better! Sometimes I have to slime after the 4th bite! It is very frustrating at times but this is what I wanted! Something to restrict my out of control eating! So, I make good food choices and eat very very slow. Most of the time my dinner gets cold and I'm only on my 3rd bite.

I hope everyone is doing fine. This board has been very quiet lately. I guess we are all out having fun with our new hot selves!

Hi Hotties -

I got my third fill this past Tuesday. My usual PA is on her honeymoon so they told me that my surgeon would do the fill himself. At first I was nervous that he wouldnt give my much, but man, I was WRONG! He gave me the most aggressive fill. I had only lost 3lbs since my one before that and he was like "Oh this is not acceptable, we need to get the weight moving off you!". I was able to drink the Water upon leaving the office, and I can drink now, but I can't eat much at all. I think I just wasn't ready for this much restriction - it's good though. Just like someone else here said - This is what I WANTED! 4oz of soft foods and I'm DONE. I went to the supermarket yesterday for some sliced turkey and the lady behind the counter gave me a piece to try. So I ate it - slowly as I was shopping - and .... YEP puked it right up in the parking lot. It's a little frustrating because I WANT to eat, but I'm 6lbs to ONEDERLAND and very excited!

Thanks for the updates gang - glad we are all doing so well!

:confused:Hi,

I just joined this chat today. My first reply. I am a newbie had my surgery on 4/20 lap band surgery. About 1 week ago I started eating regular food. Got on the scale this AM and went up 4 lbs. very upset. is this normal? I go for my 1st fill on 6/3. My food goes down very easily although I do get full faster. I am told I have no fill in me right now this is just my healing period. Can someone fill me in on what's happening or is this just normal. I was down 20 lbs but now only 15. I would appreciate any info I can get. thanks

Yuck is right. I have never puked so much as I do now. Sometimes it's very embarrassing and frustrating! I need to focus on smaller bites and chewing well. I even had a problem with cottage cheese one day at work! Eating too fast I guess.

But boy am I on a losing streak right now!!! I was stuck at 215 for 4 weeks before this third fill. Now I am at 203 and am sooooo excited to get under 200!

I actually like eating slower because it gives me a chance to focus on why I liked shoveling food in the first place. It gives me time to reflect. Time to form new healthier habits.

Hope to hear mor stories from others!

Welcome!

Happy to have you join us on our journey. First to your question: Fluctuating by 5 is not uncommon! Water weight and other factors always happen. I would stay off the scale but once a week if this bothers you.

2nd question: When you get banded, the original feeling of fullness is only because of the swelling from surgery. There is no restriction yet. I felt absolutely no restriction till my 2nd fill. Now after my third, I am at a very good place of my pouch restricting the amount of food that I can eat.

During the times of little restriction like you are in now. Just practice the lap band way of eating and drinking. Small bites, chew well and when drinking take small sips. You can eat the other way now, but later in your journey you will need to eat this way. I wish I had practiced more back then cause I need it now!

Good luck on your journey, and God Bless,

You can see in my signiture what my fills and one unfill have been.

The unfill happened after eating a grilled hamburger patty. I got stuck on the drier outside portion. It went down but hurt as it went. I have been stuck before, but never did it hurt as it went down. Then I started having trouble getting stuck on all sorts of things the next day. I thought it would get better but it didn't and after it only getting worse for 5 days, I decided to get unfilled.

It took care of all my problems, and I'm back to normal now and doing well. The hamburger must have caused some scratching and or swelling, that just didn't want to go away after.

Be careful!!! Especially, on very dry meat.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
