I've lost 17 lbs but, the majority was from the pre-op diet. I'm two weeks post op. Been doing mushy food for a week. I'm eating less than 1000 calories a day, I don't understand why the weight hasn't been dropping. I've been at the same weight for almost a week!!!

I just went through that...and finally this morning the scale shows another pound lost. There are quite a few things go on...first of all, our bodies are in complete starvation mode. When we don't take in enough calories, our metabolism essentially shuts down to a crawl. The only way to boost that back up is with exercise. I would recommend making sure you're drinking 60 oz of Water a day, so that you stay hydrated, but don't retain water, and that you exercise 60 minutes a day...get that heart rate up. The weight has to come off, right? You're eating much less and burning calories...be patient. The band is a life journey, not a sprint to the finish line...Easier said than done, but I have that posted above my scale at home.

Are you getting anywhere near 60-70 grams of Protein?

Stephanie is absolutely right. It is a slow process and it requires a total lifestyle change. Your frustrations with no post-banding weightloss is probably just a metabolic slowdown. Get up and move, it will help you kick your metabolizm back into gear. Don't get disappointed by a lack of weightloss, it comes, it goes and it's all related to you and your decisions.

Congratulations on getting banded and good luck with your journey.

Bryan

I have been drinking at least 64 oz of Water per day. My doctor recommended at least 50 grams of Protein a day and I'm ranging from 50-80 per day. I will try to kick up exercise a notch. I usually walk about 30 mins per day. Thanks for your comments!!!

i feel and felt the same frustrations as you. I know in theory that 1-2lbs a week is good and in 50 weeks, i'll be estatic if i'm down 50 lbs, i just wish i was on week 30 instead of week 4, but my nutritionist said much of the same things everyone else is saying on here.. starvation mode and the like..

she also told me to weigh myself once a week and measure myself once a week. So on sunday i weighed myself and i was only down about a lb but when i measured my waist, i was down 3 1/2 inches... that was HUGE to me.

i'm frustrated along with you, but i also know that i feel better and have only had to take insulin 6 times since surgery instead of 6 times a day! think of it like freshman year in college... feels like you'll never graduate, but after the 4 years and you graduate, you look back and realize how quickly it went. Don't lose heart... keep up the fight and make good choices!

I AM IN THE EXACT PLACE!!!!! I was just talking (complaining) to a co-worker that I'm losing inches, but not pounds. I do get my 60 grams Protein per day, and my husband and I are walking 2.5 miles per day, but the scale hasn't moved in 5 days!!!! I'm also 15 days post-op and lost 25 pounds before and the first week after surgery, but now, NOTHING!!! It gets kind of discouraging, but we have to keep pressing on! At least I can wear jeans I haven't worn in a few yeats! Something HAS to be moving!

I remember your frustration well!

Be patient, and keep moving! I lost about the same amount as you preop, and then very slow going until about 6 weeks out. Now, after my 3rd fill things are moving faster and wow, it was all worth being paitient in the beginning!

This soon after surgery is your healing phase. Many doctors say not to expect any weight loss right now, but if you have some loss, you are ahead of the game.

Your body is still recovering from surgery, may still have swelling and/or Fluid retention due to the IVs, etc.

Don't get frustrated or discouraged yet. It WILL happen, and right now you just need to heal. Let things happen in their due time and you will be happy in short order.

Omg, inch loss is fantastic! I've often said I wouldn't care if I was 300 pounds so long as I could fit into size 6 jeans.

I am at a different place that you are in the process of the band, but i am frustrated to.

I was banded in December 2008, and i have been stuck at my current weight for 4 weeks. i think that the major change i need to make is to add more exercise into my daily routine--but it is hard to make changes.

just keep reminding yourself how happy you will be when you finally reach your goal!!!! there will be ups and downs during the whole process but you got to stay focused.--and i know its alot easier said than done!

good luck...once you start healing more you will feel like exercising more and i think that will help. just stick with the diet and things will fall into place.

Also remember it is common for our bodies to hit weight loss plateaus regardless of the weight loss method. Keep working the program then suddenly one day your weight will start moving again.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
