Reality Check!!

Recommended Posts

I've been acting all sorry for myself that I haven't lost much weight lately, which is totally on me. SOOOO, my husband and I were at costco the other day and we're in the meat section. He says "hold this" and puts a 20 pound pack of meat in my arms. I was like we're gonna buy this? Then he says, "no, wait" and he puts another 20 pound hunk in my arms! I totally didn't get it!! DUH!! He says "this is how much weight you've lost so far!" I wanted to cry! It was HEAVY!!!! It really did motivate me again, so we'll see how long it lasts at least until my next trip to Costco!!!! HAHA

If you need a reality check about how much weight you've lost and how far you've come, TAKE A TRIP TO COSTCO!!!!!! Then enjoy the rest of your journey!

Lol, that's definitely an NSV!!

The finale to the Biggest Loser (Australian version) was on last night. Seeing all the contestants before and afters, it totally blew my mind that I've lost as much as most of them. So those INCREDIBLE transformations- I've made one too. I just dont see it everyday in the mirror. I am happy with what I see, for sure, but I'd love love love to really SEE myself like that - the way others see me.

Lol Jacqui, I was watching the Biggest Loser Australia finale too last night and I was oohing and aahing at how great everyone looked, when my hubby thought it pertinent to remind me that I've lost as much as some of the contestants too!

CONGRATS! on the 40 pounds! we often forget how far we have made it when the pounds slow down!

yesterday i had that same revelation. My 2 1/2 yr old was running and wanting me to catch him. When i caught him, i though, gosh, he's getting so big (compared to my youngest who is 10 pounds lighter), and it hit me, he weighs 30 pounds...THAT'S how much i lost and what i was carrying around! WOW!

now, time to shed another 20 (which is what our 1 1/2 year old weighs) so when i carry the 2 of them together i can realize just how that 50 pounds felt to carry!!

glad you found more motivation!! keep it up, you are doing great!

That is a great motivator! When I had lost 30 lbs, in my mind that was not much at all. So I went to Walmart in search of something that weighed 30 lbs. I ended up finding a bag of Tidy Cat that weighed that much. When I picked it up I realized that WAS a lot of weight!!

I believe we often see others successes and Celebrate them, but have a hard time with the realization that we have done the same thing. Sometimes we just need to put things in perspective, wether it is holding meat, children, or watching others losing on TV with the realization we are doing the same!

WAY TO GO EVERYONE!!!!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
