Wow! No one has posted yet today? Shocking! Maybe y'all are out exercising!

That is great heartfire! I am sure that new stroller will help you a lot. I was very active this weekend. I actually lost 2 pounds since last week. Yay! I walked the hills and stairs around my job today for 30 minutes. By the time I was coming back to my job, my legs felt like Jello and itched like the dickens! I don't know if the itching is because my fat globs moving too much or what. Once I slowed down, the itching stopped. I don't get it. My hunger has seemed insatiable (sp?) lately. I have a fill scheduled for the 21, but I really could use it now. Will power sucks! I had planned to do the pouch test this week, but I forgot to buy the things I would need. DH said that he will do it with me (he's not banded). I thought that was sweet. I guess the true test will be if he actually does it.

WTG!!!! Good job, Slim!! Sometimes when it's hot, I itch after my walks. Don't understand it either. Are you more hungry since you've been exercising or is this just in general? I noticed my appetite increased once I started walking regularly. I go for my next fill on the 27th. Looking forward to it!

Update on Dog! She went to the vet today and $235 later was told she had arthritis, just as I thought. It's more pronounced on the right hip than on the left. Nothing really there on the left. She's on pain meds for 10 days to see if they help. After that we'll re-consult with the vet and go from there. If they work, we'll keep her on them.

Dog can go on our walks [thank goodness!] as long as she can and is able. Vet said they'd actually do her more good than not going. It'll keep the muscles strong and keep her limber. WhooHoo! The idea of having to leave her at home just broke my heart so I'm glad I don't have too!

Was able to get out and walk this AM before we had to leave for Dog's appt. Kept it short tho. Looking forward to my normal 1.5 miler tomorrow!

Have a great night everyone!!

I'm up to my neck in work! I have a job that has to be turned in Thursday so I'm swamped! No gym tonight...watching Biggest Loser!

Michelle-Good report on the dog! I'm so glad she gets to go with you.

Slim - I hate the itching!!!! It's from an increase in circulation near the skin surface. I asked my doctor once about it. But, it let's you know things are working!

I am so glad to know that I am not the only one with the itching. I asked my coworkers and they all looked at me like I had grown another head.

heartfire-I am sorry about your dog situation. Hopefully the medicine with help with the pain.

I am going to try to get out today and walk some more. I hadn't really noticed if the hunger started after I started walking. That is something to think about.

Have a great day everyone!

I posted a few days earlier that the Y was goning to come after me as I hadn't been there in a while - I said it jokingly, but I kid you not - they PHONED me!!! They noticed that as a 16 month 4 or more times a week regular I hadn't been there in over a week, and that my other 'early morning ladies' were wondering if I was sick (previously when I have gone on vacation, they knew by general locker room chit-chat)....anyway, the Y called - unbelievable - nice, but weird!!!

I have been VERY busy trying to get the apartment ready for the next tenant, and my evenings have been consumed with washing walls, painting, scrubbing floors and closets, etc. I do manage a 1.5 mi walk home from work every night though.

I managed to drag my behind to the gym. I really was dragging and DD is the only reason I went. I got there, and just didn't feel like doing more than 20 minutes on the elliptical. I did set it for random and a higher level, so it wasn't very easy but it was short. :tt2:

I got on the treadmill at first, which is in front of the gym and people can see what you punch in for your weight and I just couldn't do it. I got so self conscience, so I moved to the back wall on the elliptical. :smile2: I don't know why, but I was just feeling so exposed.

I am working my head up to going tonight, too.

Taps, that's funny about the "Y" calling you! Cleaning counts as exercise. You're doing great!

Glouc, good for you! If I set the elliptical on random, I'd die and fall off after 5 minutes! And, I know what you mean about feeling exposed. I hate putting my weight in when someone is next to me, and you can't "lie" because you know they're thinking "yeah, right!" I go to the machine farthest away from everyone. I also won't lift weights at the gym because I'm such a wimp. They're all lifting 50 and 100 lbs. and I'm liftin little 5lb weights. No, thanks. I'll do my lifting at home!

Well, DH got out of swimming! I took him to the doctor today and he has bursitis in his shoulder. Doc gave him an injection and tons of meds to take. He's supposed to rest his shoulder for a week or so! The big wuss! I think I'll get him a kickboard and still make him work his legs!

Have a great night everyone!

I despise exercise...BUT BUT BUT...I know it is a must! I have been banded 5 months now and just joined the YMCA a month ago. I am MAKING myself go 3-5 times a week, though my goal is 5 times a week. I know what I am doing is to help me be a healthier person and help me reach goal, but I am usually complaining most of my way to the Y...I just do not want to go!!! I do though, cussing the entire way :scared2:.

Working out is starting to be routine now that I have gone for a month, but that still does not mean that I like it!!!

HAPPY exercising all!!!

wstorms, some days I cuss all the way, too! But, I feel better after I get done! It's funny...we can't remember from day to day how good we'll feel after our workout. It's like every day we head into it thinking "ugh, I don't wanna"!!

You're doing great! Down 48 lbs without a fill?! That's awesome! You go girl!

I do feel really good after I exercise! It is amazing how quick I forget that fact though .

JuneAct2, thank you for your kind words! Your start weight is my first big goal !!! I have not gotten a fill yet because I have steadily been losing. My theory is that when I stop losing for two or more weeks then I will schedule one. I feel very blessed that one has not been needed to date....for me slow and steady wins the race !!

Yoco, that's a great idea! I have a dog, but she's only 5 lbs, so I'd have to carry her. Even then, she wouldn't be much of a workout!! HA!

I went to my old gym today to lift weights and they were playing sad depressing music. So, I'm headed to my new gym (yes, I am signed up at 2 gyms) with a workout buddy to do my cardio. Then I'm going to try to talk DH into swimming tonight. His shoulder is still hurting so he might just go for moral support!

Everyone have a good evening!

Hi everyone,

Well, I guess all this exercising, which I'm not exactly thrilled about doing, has paid off.

I went to my primary care doctor today, and her scale says I weigh two pounds less. She has taken me off one of my blood pressure meds, too!

I've been exercising faithfully since the last time I wrote, and this doctor's visit--and all of you--will keep me motivated.

Thanks everybody!

Debbie

Okay people, if you're not posting, you are probably NOT working out!!! I'd really like to see all of you back here this week!

I haven't been swimming all week due to babysitting whiny DH with his shoulder. But, I have done 30 min. on the elliptical almost every day. I'm trying to bump up the resistance a little at a time.

My weight loss is stalled right now, but I feel "tighter", like I'm toning up! I'll take what I can get!

Everyone have a great day!!

Monday: Spread dirt in the back yard, getting ready for sod

Tuesday: Laid 100 pieces of sod and built a 16 foot flower bed

Wednesday: Walked on the treadmill 45 minutes, pretty slow because I am extremely sore from yard work!!!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
