I fell off the wagon. I have felt blah all week. We had some raining and flooding this week (not in our house, but around town) and I just felt like doing nothing.

Sun came out a little bit last 2 days so I did take the dogs out, but I didn't go to the gym. I haven't done anything, and it shows on the scale.

We're going out of town this weekend, so there goes the gym until Monday. I MUST do something at home, but I'm just not into it and really, I just don't wanna.

I know I have to in order to get to my goal, but how do you motivate yourself to get moving when most of you just wants to crawl under the covers and sleep?

Heartfire - If I could send the rain, I would! It was teeming with rain when I left work last evening, so I asked DH to drive me home. I see no reason why I should get cold and soaking wet - if it was the least bit warm, I wouldn't mind, but barely above feezing and pouring rain? No thanks!

And it is STILL raining - so I didn't walk to work today either. No Y for 5 days....but I did at least walk for 3 days, so as long as I do something either today or on the weekend I will meet my '4 days a week' commitment.

Hang in there, Glouc. I think we all have days/weeks like that. I know I do! I haven't been able to do anything since Thursday. I ended up going out of town this weekend as well. I have GOT to get out of the house in the AM and walk!

In all honesty, motivation or not, you've just GOT to get out there and DO IT!!! I don't think there is any magic to it. Wish there was. I'd be first in line!! LOL!

Best wishes!

Okay Tap... This is the craziest thing. After I posted that, weather reports predicted a little bit of rain Friday night and maybe in to Saturday AM. Okay, great! Woke UP Friday AM to rain and it has been raining ALL WEEKEND!!!!!! We've gotten over 2 inches of rain so far!!! They were HOPING for 1/4 of an inch! LOL!

Did you get a chance to do anything over the weekend?

Gang, I will report back and let you know if I got out there in the AM or not!! I must say that this thread is really helping me try to stay on my new exercise track! Thanks to all of you!

Have a happy Monday!

I didn't just fall off the wagon, I got run over by it. I haven't walked since that first day. It has rained here every freaking day! I know that is no excuse since I have exercise equipment here at home. I can say that I noticed that I am not getting winded walking the stairs at work. I have to climb the stairs several times a day (it's faster and easier than walking to the other end of the building to the elavator). I know that if I want to lose, I have to exercise. I know it. Making myself do it is kicking my hind end.

Happy Monday everyone!! I hope everyone had a good weekend.

I have officially passed the 40 lb. mark! And, I'm officially NOT obese anymore! I've been marking my weight on the livestrong.com website, and it shows a graph of the weight loss. I see a pattern. I lose 5 lbs, then hold steady for a couple of weeks, then drop 5 more. I can live with this.

Got DH back to the pool for laps yesterday. We were both tired, so we only did 5 laps, but it's better than nothing.

Check out the "8 minutes in the morning" workout. If nothing else it will help tone you up and it does count as a workout! 8 Minutes in the Morning - Yahoo! Health

Ya'll get out there and move!!!

Congratulations!! That's a fabulous achievement:w00t::):unsure:

As for me, I spent some time outside on the weekend doing some gardening - digging a new bed, planting a few things, removing sod, etc. So physical work but not sustained cardio-vascular stuff. Still, I did something and that's the main thing.

today I walked to work (a brisk 35 min walk), and it will be the same back home .......thank heavens it isn't raining!

Hope everyone else is doing something to keep active...... just one thing more than you did last week.

Do you have a pedometer? If you walk alot for work then you can count it as extra credit! It won't replace a workout, but every step counts.

I don't have a pedometer yet. I need to pick one up. I do a lot of walking at work.

Hi everyone,

Saturday I went shopping with my roommate and her niece. I had a hamburger, and promptly fell asleep, for four--count 'em, four--hours! So I made myself get on the treadmill when I woke up.

And I've behaved better since then. And I only ate a few fries, gave the rest to my friend.

I exercised yesterday, went on the treadmill, and got on it again today when I came from work.

They're celebrating Cinco de mayo in my department at work, but I'm bringing my lunch. I want the scale to keep going down

Debbie!

Good for you, Debbie! Getting on the treadmill after a nap would be HARD for me! But, it sounds like you needed the rest. I'm fortunate that I can't eat a whole hamburger anymore. I get full on less than half!!! Yea!!

The Cinco de mayo food would do me in. I'd be throwing my lunch in the trash and grazing off the spread. I love to sample other people's food.

Hey! I just looked at the calendar, and it's my 6 month bandiversary! I'm down over 40 lbs. (over halfway to goal). I've gone from a size 18 to a size 10. I can go 45 minutes on the elliptical. I can swim about 75m without stopping.

I have a whole new life ahead of me now that I wouldn't have had without my band. Life is good!

Happy Bandiversary June - and congratulations on your weight loss to date!! WOW - halfway there, and already a size 10....such a great positive post!!

I walked home last night (another brisk 35 min), and then went back out into the garden for another hour or so digging and transplanting and weeding...I hope to get out there again tonight. There is SO much to do - an average city house lot, but the previous owners did NOTHING with it resulting in a nothing-but-invasive-weeds and gravel sloped yard. I've been here less than 2 years, but so far I have built 2 perennial beds, and a herb garden - but there is still LOTS to do...it will take years to get it to where I would like it. Good thing I love to garden!

Welcome Kimaly! Feel free to jump in at any time. Post your workouts, no matter how big or small. If we can help, we will!

Got DH back to the pool. He's looking really hot now! Can't tell him that...I couldn't live with him!! We're swimming 7 laps 3 nights a week right now. I swim on Friday mornings, too, because it's adults only. We're trying to get in shape for vacation in June.

Tomorrow I have to hit the elliptical and some weights. I'm kind of slacking there because I enjoy the swimming more.

Taps, you're my hero! Walking to work every day! Great job!

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
