Question about gas/air bubbles..

Recommended Posts

I feel stupid for asking...but off and on I can feel gas/air bubbles since my surgery on tuesday (14). Is it new air being trapped down and I'm just sensitive to it or am I still working stuff out since the surgery? lol...again, I feel dumb for asking but am curious why I can feel better and then later it happens again and what I need to do differently.

Thanks.

I think the air bubbles move around, that's why they say walking helps. I too would go a couple days with feeling great then have an off day. The same went for my energy as well.

Good luck.

The band restricts air that would normally pass through easily, but now gets stuck and thus that feeling. Feels like you have burp but it kinda hurts because you can't. My doctor told me to try not talking as much, not ingesting so much. That wasn't so easy for me. Walking helps tremendously. A good hour walk is great for that, and helps your recovery too. Good luck and congrats on your band!

Yep.. it is that surgery gas they put in you. When I first read about it, I wasn't sure what everyone meant. I thought they were just talking about gas.... you know... :tt1: I thought to get it out, you would just.... you know :smile2: I had that pain for quite a while. And it did come and go. It gets better. Becky

i appreciate the responses and the explainations!! I've been walking since the day of three times a day anywhere from 10 minutes to 20 minutes, building myself up to a more decent time & rate. My insesion is sore and some times the bubbles are a bear but I'm pushing through.

lmao Becky - I thought the same thing too at first ;) It wasnt until after I got banned did I figure it out!! LOL

I was banded on 4/15 and have had 'gurgling gas' from my sternum to my bowels. I'm having more trouble with the lower half...it builds up so bad...and then I blow. I have been trying to find different positions to make it better, and I have found that walking helps. I'm still on my clear liquid diet so perhaps my body is revolting!! "Gimme something REAL!"

I was just banded 04/16/2009 and I have been burping like crazy. Anyone else have this type of issue?

I was banded the same day and I'm having the same issue. Burping like crazy and I am so BLOATED!!! I don't think I've ever felt this bloated in my life.

;)

I was banded on the 17th also. I am really uncomfortable. The only time I feel really sick is when I burp. It feels like I am going to throw up. I haven't it is just the feeling I get. I am so ready for this stage to be over.;)

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
