Strange feeling in center of my chest?

Recommended Posts

I was banded 3/19/09. Everything has gone pretty smoothly. But a couple of days ago I noticed a feeling in my upper stomach that doesn't feel right. When I take a deep breath it feels as if something hits the back of my rib, in the center of my chest. Its like something popping. Has anyone had this happen to them? I am afraid my band has come loose.

I was banded on 1/16/09 and for a couple of weeks after my surgery, I felt a slight pain when I would take a deep breath. It went away though and I haven't had any problems since.

Thanks, Salliemae. I'll try not to get so excited over everything, but my surgeon hasn't done many of these surgeries and I am afraid he may have done something wrong.

Jancar, How are you doing? Has the pain gone away? I'm curious, why haven't you had a fill until now? I am still having the popping around by left lower rib. I think it must be the tubing?!?! bgab

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
