Has anybody had this insurance and have to be on a diet for a certain amount of time before they would approve the surgery? I see a lot of people with this insurance have been saying it's been pretty easy, and they didn't say anything about that when I called for the policy information on the Lap-Band procedure. Just curious to see what hoops anybody else with this insurance had to make it thru! Thanks!

Just had to have 6 weighin's in the last 2 years maybe it was 1 year. They didn't have to be in a row just 6 within a time frame. We jsut changed to UHC this year previously Aetna I was needing 6 month weight loss with Dr. My package was sent on 2/6 and approval came back in 3 weeks.

Hi, I have UHC choice plus. They did not require for me to be on any sort of diet. My requirements were that I had to have proof of being overweight for 5 years or more, have a BMI of 40 or more, and be on my job for atleast 18 months. I did have a cap though. They would only pay $12000.00, so that only covered the hospital and anesthesia fees. I had to pay my surgeon the additional $5000.00 out of pocket. What really threw me off was that my policy stated that UHC would pay 100 percent of eligible expenses. Yea, they will pay 100 percent up to my cap. So be sure to make sure what your limits are so you are not surprised if you get a bill.

Wow....I didn't think of a cap! I'll have to either look online at myuhc.com or call them and find that out. I never would have thought of that, so thanks!

I have UHC Choice Plus and they do not cover any form of bariatric surgery at all in the state of Florida. I was s sad, but I saved the money all year and will self pay. My consultation is 3/20/09

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
