Today my wife was finally approved for her band, it made me reflect on my experiance thus far with my band(banded 9/17/08. I am 31yrs old, so being active is important to me, that was my motovation. so far I have lost 107lbs. My secret is excersize and math. I say math because I track my calories burned through excersize and weights and make sure that it is more than what I bring in. I try to lose about 4 pounds a week. for me this is the easiest way. No soda was hard but the best thing for my health.I have trouble eating bread and Pasta. Refied Beans are great, so is Soup. It has been a huge change, but a great one. My weight was my problem, but with some medical intervention and alot of work I am able to do something about it. IK hsve hit three weight mile stones. 1. first 40lbs, 2. when my drivers licence was wrong because of less weight , not more. 3. 100lb mark. Work and support is the key. My wife has been great and the NEW U clinci in Idaho falls is the best. I feel like I am becoming the person I was meant to be.Lets all keep pushing. It is possible

Congratulations Murphmann. I'm sure with your help your wife will do as well as you. My son is also in the process of doing a 6 mo. diet for his insurance co. I've found my journey so far to be pretty easy (banded 9/30/08) but it is starting to get harder the closer I get to my goal. Still have 35# to go. (Actually think I may want to lose more) Exercise is the key. I've recently really stepped mine up to 6 -7 days per week but am still at a plateau. I know it will eventually move tho. Keep up the good work.

I loved reading your post! i really dont think enough people do the math. it is so important to count your input, that means everything that goings into your mouth and than move your body. Count how many cals you are burning. That way if something seems to be going wrong and you cant figure out what the problem is you can go back and look at your log and see where you have been going wrong. Every week or month I havent lose very much much weight I know why. Its because I didnt workout like I should of, Its because i drank too many liquid cals, its because I cheated. I know why i didnt lose the weight because the math was wrong. I put too much in, I didnt burning more cals and i didnt do the work to help my band. 2+10 doesnt = -10 lbs....thank you so much for your post.

Great positive reinforcement story. I found a great site from someone here to "do the math" Lance Armstrong's LiveStrong.com has a section "My Daily Plate" Check it out and so easy to use.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
