Strange headaches-pain in salivary glands

Recommended Posts

6 months out - good weight loss - quite a few PB incidents - learning every day. I have noticed though that I get pain in my salivary glands where my jaw hinges sometimes when I eat and it is tight or I slime. It causes a major headache I can't get rid of. Sometimes I get it even if I don't feel tight. Just slowly ate some mashed potatoes and my head is killing me - radiating from my salivary glands. ANYONE ELSE>?????

Sounds like you have an infection in there? I haven't had any problems in that aspect, though someone else might have. Have you talked to your doctor about it yet?

I dont actually really know where the salivary glands are, but I do know that right after my last fill I began getting really bad headaches when I ate.

I read on a thread somewhere here that it might be because of sudden changes in the blood sugar levels. I still get headaches occasionally if I eat something I shouldn't or if something gets stuck.

For me, taking several long, deep breaths or going for a short walk seem to help.

wow! I just had my surgery in June 2010, and recently I got a fill that is wayyyy too tight. Problem is, I have to pay $300 every time I get adjusted and so I haven't gone in to get it loosened... I have been having the same headaches and salivary gland pain! Some days I take a bite, and INSTANTLY I get a bad headache pain in the lower back of my head. As soon as the food goes down (it can take a minute or two) the headache goes away. This can even happen with applesauce some days.. The salivary gland pain that I have doesn't happen when I eat though, it is at random times throughout the day. Mostly at night though. I can't figure out why they hurt! I keep wanted to ask my surgeon, but he's very far away and I always forget when I see him. Keep me posted if you've asked your doctor about this...:)

Sounds a lot like TMJ symptoms. It makes sense if you are chew, chew, chewing your food so much more than before surgery that the joint and muscles are under more stress.

For me right sided forehead pain that almost goes to feeling like it's behind my right eye .. I'm starting to make the connection I have had enough to eat.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
