Night time hunger

Recommended Posts

I wasn't sure if I should put this here or in the fill section.

Pre-fill on Monday I was eating 3 small meals aday and feeling content unil the next meal time, for the most part. I would also have a few bites of cheese, or something in the evening for a snack. (even though the my dr prefers no Snacks at all), If I was really hungry still.

After fill #1 of 2.5 cc, I am not hungry in the am. I may have a bite or two of oatmeal or something but thats about it. I have a small/reasonable lunch and dinner, but by about 8pm, I am starving. I have been drinking lots of Water, and I am sure that I am hungry and this is not just head hunger. I wasn't hungry like this before, and my next fill is 6 weeks away. I am not sure what to do.

Is it bad for me to have a snack in the evenings? Should I just keep ignoring the feeling? (this is getting hard to do). Does anyone have any suggestions for good night time Snacks? I hate going to bead with a growling stomache.

I never was this hungry before I had the band. I am not sure what to do about it either, but I know I cant go to sleep with the growling like that. What to do, What to do????

I use to have the same problem hungry at night.I would drink a glass of Water and wait an hour and if I was still hungry I would have a cup of strawberries or Soy Crisps, usually that would help, but don't worry when you get filled to the right spot hunger want be an issue as much..

I went thru this as well. My dr. said I wasn't eating the right food for dinner if I was still hungry. I know that when I eat salmon or tuna for dinner I am so full I feel like I could bust. I have had 4 fills, the last one was in Sept. If I do get the urge to have a snack I have a cheese stick or yogurt. Good luck with that battle! I had fallen back into the snack habit bad. I am trying to avoid it as much as possible! It is a Daily battle for me.

Hunger is hard for me too at night. Especially when I work out in the evening. I've been eating Atkins protien bars that I put in my workout bag. It had done the trick so far for me.

I find that when I eat breakfast...enough Proteins before 5pm.I do pretty well...800-1200 calories kinda work..but, I think if you try some things out..and get some good exercise in...Do your thang!

I love a small snack at night before bed! It helps me feel content and stops the evening tummy growls which I get without it.

I keep it reasonable, though. A Laughing Cow Lite wedge or two, or a 60 cal pudding...something small. If the rest of yoru days' calories are not too high, a small snack at bedtime is no problem at all, IMHO.

I am going in this week for my first fill. Right now I get so hungry like I did before I was banded. Will it less better the fills? I get to the point at night my stomach is growling so loud and it hurts. What can I eat at night that wont be so bad for me? I am in desperate need of hunger help!!!;)

Night time hunger attacks all of us, but at the same time dont starve yourself. If you must eat a midnight snack try to find something like what I did. I found a nutrition bar that is actually also scientifically proven to curve appetite, its called the control bar, you can check it out here. Bariatric Advantage - Control Bar - chocolate Delight (1 bar)

Adkins advantage shakes/bars are pretty much the same thing but without all the carbs, and alot cheaper, at least at Walmart.< /p>

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
