March 9 surgery date

Recommended Posts

Hi all. Laurie from NYC gearing up for a March 9 surgery and I am really nervous. But the alternatives of continuing to gain weight and develop more health issues is not an appealing one, so I am going forward. I am a person in recovery and have always struggled with weight except when I was at the height of my active using. since I am sober (15 years now) I have steadily gained weight and I am now at my highest 290 lbs. I am married and my SO has been very supportive. I have arranged to take off 1 1/2 weeks from work to ensure I am ready to go back. Any and all support appreciated and reciprocated.

peace..

I agree, I feel like, DANG i should be able to do this on my own, but alas, here we all are! I think it is scary for everyone, I am most afraid I will die on the table and leave my husband alone with our two children. But the chances of that happening are slim. I bet it is more probable to die in a car crash.

But, we are all feeling the same things, hang in there! We will get through this together!

Hello. I'm having my surgery March 9th also. I also have some fears about it too, but you are right about gaining right and causing more health problems. I believe it will be so worth it in the end! Happy weight loss! ;)

Sore muscles, some gas pain, some port pain. The hardest part so far has been the headache and weakness. I think because of low blood sugar. Better today than yesterday though.

March 9 surgery and I am getting ready to go for my follow up appt with Dr Merola right now, and I am due back at work tomorrow.

I am healing, am on mushies now. I have not vomited or had much nausea, but the gas is driving me crazy. it seemed to disappear for a couple of days but today it is back with a vengence. It is radiating through my chest and stomach and sometimes near the port. I have tried everything, walking around, ultra strangth gas X AND thin strips, I even tried to take a muscle relaxer as I heard someone else recommend. Even though it comes and goes, I am worried to go back to work with these annoying pains which are not painful but very uncomfortable.

I will see what my doctor says, but I suspect there is little more I can do.

On the bright side, I am down 16 pounds which makes me happy. Just wish the gas would leave for good...

How is everyone else from 3/9?

Hello my fellow 3/9 ers;

I've been feeling pretty good except I get tired easily. I can walk 20 minutes at a time but still working up to 30 minutes.

Hunger is manageable but the head hunger is messing with me. Not hungry but would still like to eat just to eat. I have 2 more weeks of liquids.

And... I'm down 15 lbs!!!

I'm back to regular food and it's freaking me out b/c I can eat a ton. Way way way more than I expected to be able to eat - almost back to pre-surgerical amounts. I have to chew well or things feel stuck but thank god I have not thrown up once (had a couple close calls but was able to keep it down) and am really able to eat. Is anyone else finding that they have no restriction? I am sure that I have gained some weight back (too scared to weigh myself) but I get so hungry! My first fill is on Monday and I can't wait - hopefully I'll get some restriction then.

How are the rest of you doing?

I was banded 3/25/09 and I'm experiencing the same gas pain issues you had.

Has it gotten any better for you yet?? Mine actually didn't start until yesterday afternoon so day 4, but it hasn't let up since then.

I'm hungry...did you hear me i said HUNGRY!!!!

I can't wait till Friday when I can start on mushies....I just keep telling myself, I'm more then halfway there...just a little bit longer.

I was banded on 3/9 as well, but I wont get my first fill untill 4/23. At this point I have no restriction and can eat anything I want. I have had a couple of bad meals but for the most part I am still eating right, Working on small bites and chewing well.

As for the hungry part that is why they call this "Bandster Hell".

I keep in mind what it is that I am trying to accomplish, and the hungries don't seem so bad.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
