I have ZERO restriction now...

Recommended Posts

I went in for a fill 2 days ago. She unfilled me to check and see how much I had in me and to check for leaks and things.

Then she added only a little more because I already had really good restriction. (I had lost 20 lbs since my last fill.)

Now I have NO restriction... none. zip. zero. zilch.

I called the office and she was like, you need to come in ASAP. So I will go in again next week. Hopefully I won't gain any weight this week. However, not having first bite syndrome has been nice!

Anyone know what could have happened? I'm thinking the saline just didn't get into my port?

That same thing happened to me around month 6/7. They withdrew to check the amount and then put right back in wiht the additional .5 cc, I had no restriction for 2 months it was all willpower. no loss, no gain. I pick with my dr as when he drew it out it got out that wrinkle. That is why i had such good restriction prior to that and none after. So slowly but surely I have gotten to restriction, but it is more like a Full feeling, I dont get that hard pain when I take one too many bites. I am 13 months out down 63 lbs. i have lost 2.0 since my dr appt last week. It is my sweet spot for now and may last for another month or so. I am sooooo close to goal. 8-10 lbs. Just breezin now. but workin my patutty off with cardio every day, it gets addicting.. WOO hoo Hang in there it will come back.

This is what I'm going thru right now. I went in 2 days ago for a fill. The week before they had taken out .25 because I was getting stuck everytime I ate anything. Of course after that I felt like I was wide open. So 2 days ago I asked them to put in a little, the dr. told the nurse to put the .25 back in since swelling had gone down. I feel hardly any restriction when I eat. I am eating about 1-1/2 cups of food, get full and stay full for about 3 hours. Is it possible the fill didn't make it in the port? Is this enough restriction to loose the pounds? I'm trying to figure out the inconsistency with these fills. (urghh)

I just went in for my very first fill on thursday, but I don't know know how much my dr. put in. But I feel like I had more restriction before my fill. should I call my doctor or give it another couple days to see. I know that I am not hungry now at all, but it seems like when I do eat everything goes down fine.

I'm in the same position.

Banded 12/31/08 and 1st fill 2/6/09.

I had more restriction BEFORE the fill and doing great!

Having no restriction at all, I've put on weight since the fill and am having trouble getting another fill; I'm currently scheduled for March 13. I can't wait that long, I don't want to undo all my weight lose.

OK, I could do better eating, I try, but I need this "tool" and it's not working at all.

Bandster Hell!

Were all in the same boat. I think for myself, the first fill was done when I still had some swelling in my stomach. So a week after the fill my swelling continued to got down and total restriction was actually less. Even though I had the fill it has been a long 3 weeks and 3lbs gained.

I think another fill should really help now that the swelling is definitely down.

I also believe that the unfill process during a fill can readjust things and make the fill react differently. I'm planning the next fill without any removal to avoid this potential change.

Well, they have slowly added the Fluid back in and I'm restricted again, but not as much as before.... I can't wait to get to where I was in January. I lost like 15 pounds in January!! I ended up gaining 3 pounds during this problem phase, but am now just back to where I was before... annoying, but oh well. I have an entire lifetime to fix this issue.

i just had surgery at the end of january and will be getting my first fill tomorrow. i'm a little worried because two days after that i will be flying (on an airplane, i'm not that talented) to visit my brother. have any of you heard anything/experienced any issues with flying so soon after a fill? i'm also worried about too much restriction and then being out of town, but i also want to start loosing weight! i've been stuck for the last 3 weeks now, its almost like i haven't had the surgery...

Hi Guys,

I had my first fill about 2 weeks ago. I'm still able to eat like a cup of food at a sitting. It just seems like allot to me from what I was told. Should I be worried or concerned? Would you call the Dr. ? My weight loss has slowed down some too.

Any advise is really appreciated, I'm a newbie at this

PS for lunch I just had a flour tortia and some hummus. Then a choc Protein bar.. Doesn't that seem like allot?

I had my first fill 4 weeks post and feel no restriction whatsoever, I guess, the previous restriction was due to the swelling. i can eat as much and whatever I want. My next fill is next week... thank God. I didn't have the surgery to just will power it the whole time. ( obviously, I didn't do too well at that before).

I was told not to eat anything before ,during or after the flight and that i was to just have liquids because the altitude could tighten the band i had my fill over a week ago they wanted to give time for the swelling to go down incase i needed some liquid taking out so i am really looking forward to coming home so i can have another fill as i am really nervous about gaining the weight as i don't have any restriction

I had surgery two weeks ago to upsize my band and fix a bad slip. I had previously lost all my weight and since the surgery, only two weeks (!) I have gained 10 pounds. Granted, I was dehydrated and under weight actually, but I am freaking out until I can get a fill. I can't go to the gym yet either because it's been so soon after the surgery. No retriction after being way over restricted is a shock.

thanks! i asked my doc about this yesterday and he didn't know of any problems with flights, but it didn't seem like it had ever occurred to him. he only put in 2cc's, so we'll see how this goes. so far, so good. although he "tested the system" first by injecting about 10cc's, and that was one of the oddest feelings i've ever had! hopefully i won't have any issues on my trip...

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
