Post LapBand Constipation problem

Recommended Posts

Always a subject that no one wants to talk about but here goes...I was alway regular but now everything seems to be moving way slower and way more difficult to move out.

I have tried softners and they sort of work but it still feels like a brick.

I drink 40-70 oz of Water but doesn't seem to help.

Since this diet is more Protein it most likely is because that has a natural way of blocking everything up.

Just wondering if anyone else is having the same problem and what they are doing to help minimized the effect.

I have had this problem since banding May 7th. I know one of the causes for me is all the iron/vitamins I take now. Both my family practitoner and LB surgeon recommended Miralax. I take it every other day and no more issues. (it took me a while to figure out the perfect dosage for me).

They both assure me it is not "addictive" and its completely tastless. I just add it to my morning drink. My dietician approves as well.

Omg the only problem I have ever had with the band is constipation! It's horrible! I do yoga to help and it works a little bit, but not enough to do anything major.

I get all excited when I actually have one... it's so sad lol...

Here's my trick... one day, I eat a little more than regurarly and it seems to work. Also, try drinking a Venti White chocolate Mocha (if you're more than 3 months post op) from Starbucks. I call it my "coffee flavored laxative." lol

*Note: Decaf dosen't work.

No amount of medication or fiber did the trick for me. Oddly enough, 5 prunes a day due the trick.

Yeah I had problems before surgery and they only got worse afterwards. I tried laxatives and stool softners but those didn't even work and I was noticiting blood whenever I did go...I got chewable fiber tablets with a Multivitamin and they work like a charm...hope that helps....

I am 4 weeks post op. I went about a week without going the first week, then it seem to be about a week inbetween still...HMMM...I should probably add something. I don't REALLY feel bad, its just weird because I was regular before.

Like someone else...I get excited when it happens too  Just nice to know I still work correctly...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
