I'm also scheduled for the lapband on 2/23. I've been working toward this for about 8 months and can't believe I finally have a date for surgery. I'll be having it done in Waco, Tx.

How are you feeling about it all? Have you started your pre-op fluids diet!

Im dreading that part - 2 weeks without food - could be hellish!!! I'm in Dublin, Ireland.

I'm very excited about having the procedure done. I've started getting all my post-op supplies and liquids on hand so I won't have to worry about that later. The thought of being on liquids for several weeks is scary but I'll do my best. My pre-op diet begins 2/9. Just think, our new life will be starting soon...

I know! I don't know what to do, I have a school function on the 11th Feb and my pre-op is meant to start on the 9th...Maybe I could start 2 days later. I should probably ring and see what they say! I'd dreading that part but also looking forward to my new life with confidence!

Please God all will go ok!

At least we can compare notes!

All the very best

Emma

Emmage and Wildfire, its good knowing others starting their new life with me on the same day...I'm so afraid something will happen causing my surgery to not happen. I know this thought is not reasonable but its still there. Today I plan on clearing the freezer and pantry of my greatest temptations. I hope we all have great success with the lap band.

I'm also scheduled for the 23rd. I'm ready to get started on this journey. I went to the info session 11 months ago! It's been a long time coming!

Hello, Feb 23 bandsters..I'd love to compare notes with everyone..How much pain are you having, what stage of the diet are you on now, have you lost weight post op? I still have a mod. amt of pain at the puncture sites and shoulder, I'm on full liquids but I've not been able to get the daily required amt. of fluids in, and to my shock, my 24 hr stay in hospital resulted in 6 lbs weight gain....Luckily I have NO appetite and have to force every oz of fluids down. Hope to hear from ya'll soon............

Hey everyone

I also had my surgery on the 23rd , for what was supposed to have only been a out pt visit, turned into a overnight stay, all because of the Anesthesia gas sitting on my chest for to long. My doc wanted to run a EKG, Chest Xray and blood work to make sure that is all that was going on.

I was not in a lot of pain expect for it feeling like someone was stomping on my chest all night and I also have that annoying shoulder pain still.

My surgeon does state liquids for 1 week post op but by Thursday (3 days post op) I just could not even fathom doing any more liquids, I did do the pre op liquids without a hitch , but I guess my body was telling me "I need more! " so I did start the puree phase a bit early and everything seems to be going ok.

In fact Friday morning ( 4 days post op) I actually showered, brushed my teeth and put on "real " clothes and my Gosh went to the Mall. Doc said I need to walk soooo what better place to go for a walk then to the mall!

Since I did start the puree phase a bit early I am being very careful on what I am eating, I will tell you those 3 small "meals" actually do make a difference in the way I am feeling not only physically but also mentally. Walking and a little bit of food is actually helping all the other body parts work better ..

I have my post op visit on Tuesday and then back to work on Thusday...My Wii Fit states I have only lost 1.5 lbs since the day before surgery until Thursday, while I was still on my liquids. I am excited to see what the doc scales say how much I have lost officially,, since my pre op visit.

I just have a couple of little things that are bothering me.. one of them being I can not sleep though the night, not in bed, in the recliner.. nothing , that is why it is now 5 am and I am here typing . I am a left side sleeper and well I don't need to say why I can lie on that side and to long on my right side or on my back I get stiff and can not even move.. I guess that will pass in time also. :(

Madison, I like your idea of increasing diet to pureeds and I'll do the same today. I feel absolutely no hunger but I know I'm not getting near enough calories to sustain life so maybe the extra food will help me feel better in general. The 6 lbs I gained while in hospital are gone now..I'm sure they were due to the IV fluids and hopefully the real wt loss can start now...I'm having trouble sleeping also.. I get 3-4 hrs of sleep then awaken mostly due to shoulder pain. I hope your improvement continues...sounds like your on the right path...

Hi Everyone,

I was also banded on the 23rd and I feel great. I was out the first night and was released from OCC in the morning. I am still on fluids and not hungry. I had a little bit of trouble at night but a heating pad helped out a lot.

I flew on the 26th and had a horrible journey home. I am thankful I was not being bothered by anything as I was stranded in St. Paul for the evening. Had flights cancelled and delayed multiple times, held on the plane twice. I was heading for Buffalo to get my car and drive back to Guelph, Ontario but there were not flights for two days so I took a flight to Toronto and had to drive to Buffalo today to get my car and come back... What a journey.

I am trying to stick to liquid as long as possible as I was told mushies will stretch your pouch.

Hope everyone else is also doing well!

Wow, Wildfire, you really are doing great. The first few days post-op I had trouble getting between the bedroom and bathroom much less travel like you did to get home. Will you have trouble getting fills in Canada because of having surgery done in Mexico? I know in the states, sometimes people have trouble getting them.

Hello Gumbo,

Thank you. I do feel that I am very lucky as I am doing well. Not hungry and not in any pain. I picked up some liquid tylenol in the States and really have no need for it.

I am still trying to figure out what to do for the fills. There are fill centers in USA in Troy... about a 4 hour drive..or I have heard of Dr. s in Montreal or Ottawa...Toronto does not seem to have anything. They won't touch a Mexican patient.

I take great powdered Vitamins called Green+ Multi made by Genuine Health. Otherwise I am just following the liquid diet closely.

How are you feeling today?

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
