What to take to hospital

Recommended Posts

I took way too much with me. Basically you need a change of clothes and toiletries if you want to have a shower (I waited until I got home). I also took a magazine to flip through while waiting for surgery. Good luck

Thanks for that. Yes I would probably take to much as well. Hubby keeps telling me that I am not going on a weeks vacation.

Will take your advice and take the bear essentials.

Hey Tas

Are you as nervous as me. I keep telling my hubby I am not going (I am really I haven't suffered optoslop for 2 weeks for no reason).

I have the same stuff as you. My dieticien also told me to get some low fat custard and yogurts as well. I am so looking forward to a cup of coffee.

I don't know how but I did not cheat at all on the optislop. I can't wait until I never see that stuff again.

Good Luck tomorrow Tas and take care.

Good luck to anyone else that is due in the near future.

Basics is really all you need-some PJs and change of clothes, toiletries!! For coming home remember to get some de-gas or peppermint tea!! Thats the one thing I forgot to do because the gas they put in ur abdomen during the surgery rises to ur shoulders post surgery and it gets uncomfy!!

Its honestly not as bad as you imagine it is going to be so don't stress and good luck!! Take care and follow the instructions of the dr's.

Oh...and take the morphine when its offered!!!

Hi all

Thanks for all the advice and best wishers.

All is done now yay.

Op went well, had a little gas and a little sore but ok, stuff you have to swallow for xray next day is so yuck.

Had really bad nausea for the first 3 mornings which killed me, worked out if i slept upright in recliner i wasnt sick in the morning.

Have been living on 2 iceblocks and liquid malata a day and bit of Water, no real pain just a bit of gas in the cheast and unable to eat anything (think its mental haha)

Saturday night was the first time i had eaten since op on Tuesday, Hubby made me roasted garlic and spud Soup soooooooo nice althought only had 1/4 ladle also up to 800mls Water, went for a short walk and slept in my bed with no morning sickness yay so excited now life is starting to get back to normal.

The one thing I wish I had though of to take was a "button" down shirt to come home in. I like an idiot brought a t-shirt and it was difficult to lift my arms up.

Good luck

Oh, good tip mljalways. Though I'm stuck for that! I didn't bring a button down shirt from home (I had to travel 6 hours to Adelaide for my op).

I might have to make do with a singlet I can step in to.

Operation day tomorrow!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
