2nd Fill - Now that's what I'm talking about!

Recommended Posts

My second fill got me up to 4.5cc out of the 10cc the band can hold. I was told to be on liquids for a day, and to proceed from there. I did stay on liquids, though I had chili for lunch the next day (isn't that a liquid? ). But for dinner my wife had made beef in a crock pot, corn, and perogies. Even though I was chewing pretty well, I got stuck big time, and had only gotten through maybe 5 bites total. Took almost an hour to go way, including some PBing. So now I know what restriction feels like, and how careful you have to be. After 48 hours, I had lunch at a Japanese steakhouse, and ate very very carefully, staying away for the most part from the fried rice. I did fine, and got full on a lot less food than I would have eaten before the band. So good luck to you all as you move onto your 2nd and future fills, that's where it starts to kick in and become the tool we've been looking for.

I am so happy to read this post. I don't get my second fill for another 4 weeks. I think I only have about 3 cc in 10cc band. I do have some restriction but not a lot. I eat less than before but had a 6 inch subaway sand. today and ate it with no problem. I got full on just that so that is good but I am looking forward to that really great restriction.

Congrats to you.

I tell ya, my second fill really made a difference. I am doing so much better and have fallen way off my little plateau.

I am doing well with avoiding PBing now but still learning to stop before sliming. Getting the hang of that one too but slowly. I just eat too dang fast. I am learning to slow down and take smaller bites and to chew chew chew!

i have a follow up on the 3rd of feb, and I am thinking we are going to schedule my next fill then. I hope that it can be done sooner than later. I have no restriction,

I am glad you are getting to use this tool as it is supposed to be! I am doing good though with using weight watchers

Thank you MTBiker. I've been feeling discouraged because I'm so hungry. I don't get my second fill until Feb 3. Your post was exactly what I needed to read today. I can't wait until the band really starts working.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
