I was banded on the 6th

That's for sure Chrissy, Good for you.

The only way I can stomach those shakes is one scoop in 1/2 cup cherry crystal light. I try to drink it as fast as possible because I hate them!

Get some rest tonight, sounds like you'll need it tomorrow!

Thanks for the idea, but I really want to do this 100% by my doctors orders. I just wish I didn't have to do the Protein shake. My poor husband has been listening to me cry and moan about being hungry for days. It is too funny, I sit with him and tell him all the things I wish I was eating. He then gives me this awful look like I am seriously going to puree mac and cheese.

I know we will all get through this but this is going to be one heck of a roller coaster ride!

Chrissy,

I'm on the Clear Liquids only for 2 weeks - and just today have added Protein shakes. It tasted awesome to me after a week of nothing but broths and juices! However, what I do find actually pretty satisfying is to take any Soup - say a good Progresso soup or Campbell's and strain off everything but the soup base and drink it. I have found it to be far more satisfying than plain ole broth. I've also been using a blob of whipped cream (from the can) on my sugar free Jello. I know it's not exactly Kosher, but I haven't had any problems.

It's no wonder you're so hungry if you are taking care of 2 little ones ! You're using up a lot of energy!

Hang in there and blessings to you.

Hi everyone,

I was banded on the 7th. I've lost 23 pounds, 47 if you include the 22 I had to lose for surgery. How is everyone else doing? Just curious to see how everyone else is doing since starting soft food.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
