LilMIss - how is the knee doing? Take it nice and easy....

Rhapsody - :bored::eek::w00t:You broke your plateau, and your total weight loss to date is fabulous!! And doing 3.5 mls on the tm is good! I started at 2mls, but as my speed to do that changes, I am slowly adding some more distance. I really want to be able to run 5K - not in a race, just myself to say that I can.

Shiny - You're right - new shoes need some 'breaking in' time! Are you taking today off to prepare for your weekend run?

As for me, I'm working from home today, so I don't know if I will get to the Y this evening....but if I don't, I know I will kick myself tomorrow. I did do some shovelling last night though to add to yesterday's total.

I thought we might get a chuckle from this...

Good one!

And yet so true... :)

I did do my bike again last night. Very light. I don't want to over do it since I've yet to see my PCP. I have an appt. today at 2PM PST. I doubt I should even do anything, but exercise is like an addiction to me. I think about it all day - especially if I don't do it.

Thanks for asking! I'll definitely let you all know how it goes.

shm, you are amazing... I so want to be there with you. I have to lose at least 50 more before I'm that good.

Thanks Tap! 80 pounds is not as fabulous as some of you awesome ladies who've lost 100 or more, but I'm happy with it. I'm just glad to see the scale move finally, I was ready to bury it in the permafrost snow we have outside! Our backyard is a sea of snow it's so deep. It's snowing again today. If this keeps up, we're not gonna thaw out until July, lol. :)

I'll still be overweight at 150, I'm very short . . . only 5'2". But at least I won't be obese at 150, and my exercise physiologist says (according to my body scan) that about 167 is a "healthy" weight for a woman my "age" (ugh, lol). If I get to 150 pounds, maybe I'll think about going lower. I just can't remember being lower than that . . . maybe back in high school, about a million years ago.

I'd like to run a 5K too! I know I can jog one now, or at least power walk it. It'd be nice to do something like that for a charity.

Thanks again to everyone for keeping me motivated!

I used to tease my husband when I was heavy that he had gotten twice the woman he bargained for. He doesn't mind losing that other half so much although he was never ever negative to me about my weight. Bless his heart.

Well, I made it 4.5 miles. It was supposed to be 1 mile warm-up (I did a level 4.7), 3 miles at a challenging speed (I did a level 5.7, bumping it up to 6 and even 7 at one point.), 1 mile cool-down (4.7 again). I made it through all but the last half mile of cool down. My toes were killing me in my new shoes and I couldn't continue. I need to wear my insoles from my other shoes next time. I should know better than to try running five miles the first time I wear a pair of shoes. I'm exhausted, but proud of my accomplishment. Saturday will be a new distance of 6 miles. Yikes!

It's so nice to have a supportive hubby! My husband is also a sweetie, he never said anything bad about my weight. And thanks for posting some speeds SHM! I'm only doing about 3.7 on my treadmill, it takes me about 50 minutes to do my 3.5 miles. When I'm able to run (for about a minute :)) I do get it up to 4.7 or 5 (never as high as your 5.7 to 7! You are really aerobic). Maybe going from 3.7 to 4.7 is too fast for me right now . . . I'll try and build that up more slowly, then try and increase distance.

New shoes! I'm sure you'll get them broke in very soon. I could really use a new pair of shoes. Maybe a treat when I hit my bandiversary next month.

I'm sure dragging my feet on my non-running days. I managed to get in 20 minutes yesterday and 15 minutes today of T-tapp. I know that's not enough, but just didn't make myself do any more than that. 10 p.m. isn't my ideal exercise time. I do much better when I put it first in my day instead of last. Maybe I can do better next week.

Tomorrow is my 6 mile run day. I'm a little nervous. I've never done more than 5. I will get to run outside which is always a treat. I think it's supposed to be 60 degrees outside tomorrow, so yay for that. I think I'll wear my new shoes but put my old insoles in them. Hope that works!

Shiny - good luck on your run!

Rhapsody - a new pair of shoes sounds like a good idea to me too! My others are getting worn, and besides, I keep them at the locker at the Y, so then on days when I'm home, I don't have proper shoes to wear if I wanted to do any exercising. And PS your new pic is great!

LilMiss - how is the knee?

I've not exercised for 2 days now...between being icebound in the house, and not feeling great, I just haven't moved my rear! Today, I will try to find some energy and move...but so far it isn't looking promising!

Right there with ya Tap. Haven't been able to get my butt moving for a couple days and today doesn't look good either. I have a pretty busy schedule today and missed my time this morning. It wasn't all bad though because I spent the time snuggling and talking to the hubby. That's as important as exercise but still no excuse.

Hope you're feeling better soon Tap. Hate to hear you're under the weather.

Shiny - I have to exercise in the morning otherwise I don't do it at all. I admire your determination to get it in even at 10PM.

Lil - How is the knee doing? How was the doctor's appointment?

Ready - Where the heck are you? Come back to us.

Hi all -

I'm in California this weekend (well, Thurs to Sun) to give a presentation at a regional meeting. Just gave it this morning, and glad it is behind me.

As for working out, there is only B&Bs in this town, so no hotel with an exercise room. So I'm been "forced" to walk on the beach - did 2 hours walking on the beach the last two days and plan on it again this afternoon. Wish this was my regular way to work out! So nice!!!

Will be back at the gym once I get home to the "Land of the Perpetually Frozen"!

Two hours of walking on a beach! (drooling with envy )

And I know what you mean about the "Land of the Perpetually Frozen". Feels like a new North Pole here! The bottom layer of snow is completely frozen. Impossible to shovel all the way to the pavement anymore.

Enjoy your weekend Anna! It sounds wonderful.

Well, I did it. I ran 6 miles. It took me 80 minutes which makes my average mile 13:20. I'll take it. I decided at the very last second to change back to my old shoes and I'm glad I did because I got a blister in those ones, the new ones would have been worse. I will wear the new ones for my short runs until I'm comfortable in them. I'm very tired and unusually sore, but happy with my accomplishment. Thanks for all the well wishes. You guys are such a help to my motivation.

Oh Anna - that sounds great!!! And I know EXACTLY what you mean - I am looking outside through icicle-laden study windows at the snowbanks that hide the car!

CONGRATULATIONS, Shiny! That is fabulous!!! And it was a very wise decision to use your old shoes too!:thumbup::thumbup:

AS for me - I shovelled yesterday - not a lot, and therefore didn't get my heart rate up for too long, but every bit helps, and it really was all I was up to doing. Can't seem to shake this run-down feeling, oh well, it too will pass. Today I have company coming for supper so a wild cleaning marathon will begin shortly...

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
